I have an emotional attachment to this place. I come here to self reflect and catch some alone time. It helps to calm my anxiety and I leave feeling elated each time.

Calm waters, ducks, swans and pigeons. This place oozes peace. As I sit on the red bench, I see families walking by, with smiles all over their faces. Dog and master playing fetch. Kids riding their bicycles ahead, followed keenly by the ever watchful eyes of their parents.

Off course there is a place to sit and get some good old cheese. A beer maybe, and some smoke.

Some days though it goes really crazy with some musical events. Top notch bands playing top notch music for millennials and oldies alike.

Situated right opposite Lavie shopping mall, you could kill two birds with a stone. Do some shopping and chill in the park right after. Before...

One of the most beautiful parks in Portugal. Perfect for a picnic, playing tennis, walking your dog, or going for a row around the little lake. There are many statues scattered throughout the park so it's also a cultural experience. There are many quiet spots if you crave a little solitude. Bicycles are officially prohibited, but tolerated for kids. Dogs are supposed to be on a leash. There are clean public restrooms and water fountains. There is also a cafe serving drinks and snacks. There is a playground for kids and some outdoor exercise equipment. The second Sunday of every month, there is a large...

I really liked Parque Dom Carlos I. There are many birds roaming around including peacocks, swans and I saw a black swan for the first time 🤓.

In the little lake it is possible to rent small boats, we did not do so but I think it could be a nice activity to do with kids. Overall, the atmosphere is very relaxing.

There is an abandoned building which is beautiful and it is really a pity that it is not renovated and used. It definitely gives the park a vintage look.

There is also a big parking lot for cars in one of the entrances of the park which is...

Parque Dom Carlos is filled with giant old trees that keep it cool in the summer. The lake offers plenty of bird watching and relaxation time. There's a museum and 2 restaurants, plus who can resist the peacocks. With plenty of walking paths, you can get your exercise while stopping to smell the roses in the rose garden. During the summer, into the Christmas holiday loads of events both free and paid for the family. Concerts, festivals, food, and fun. It's a wonderful place for people watching or just relaxing, a beautiful edition to the town.
