We had dinner here when it first opened and again last week at the restaurants special supper club dinner. Both times it was very good. (To be fair though, I believe it was a guest chef for the supper club dinner). Sadly, our lunch today was not so great.
We were a table of 4 for lunch. The main meals took a long time to be served. The first meal arrived, a daily special of sausages wrapped in cabbage, rice, and fries - all three were cold, the fries old and limp. About 10 minutes later, we received two more of the main courses; the fried chicken, which was very dry and mostly bones, it came with coleslaw which was an over sauced, tasteless sloppy mess. Then there was the crab salad. It looked like the sloppy coleslaw with some crab. On a bright note, the side of fries was hot and fresh. After another long wait, our number 4 had to ask for his meal which was finally delivered to the table some 20 minutes after the first meal. The coffee order was completely forgotten, however, they did try to include it on the bill. Overall – food and service, the dining experience was ‘poor’.
I hope our lunch is not going to become the standard of this restaurant as it has great potential and wonderful atmosphere – fingers crossed, as Caldas Da Rainha can really benefit from more good...
Read moreThis is a place that is very special - we had a fabulous lunch here today and we will be back for sure Hubby had mushroom linguini which was best he ever had anywhere - he is a great cook himself and very fussy normally quite critical - but today he was delighted. I had snapper - with roast vegetables- absolutely stunning - and then not usually ones to have desert we saw a desert pass by and decided we would have some of that - another triumph - they specialise in tapas and so we will go back for that because it looks good - very highly recommend this gorgeous place - two of us glass of wine for him non alcoholic mohito for me - 2 mains and a sharing desert was less then 50€ - absolutely top notch

Read moreIf you find yourself in Caldas, I would heartily recommend visiting this wonderful restaurant. The decor is modern, quirky, but pays homage to Caldas history. The menu is European, with emphasis on Portuguese flavours and styles. Their sautéed mushroom and sweet potato with cheese has amazing flavours, the beef Portuguese style was superb, the asparagus risotto was delicious and huge!. Overall, this restaurant is hitting all the right buttons. The cost is incredibly reasonable..in Lisbon they could easily double their prices and no one would blink! Catch it now while...
