Very beautiful. Took 3 visits before access to pool and Sea was open. Could swim in sea to right of lido including diving board or ladders, or stone walkway, but left sea access was still roped off. No access to floating island or sea swimming in that area for today. Pool entry from top and bottom stairs, sides entry not possible as design enables the overflow gully's to drain the pool water overflow. The lido pool quite cool, 10 min in you'll be used to it by then. Sea felt warmer. Good venue just remember the Sea dictates activities there. €17.50 ish for 2 adults 2 children with 2 Sun Beds & a parasol. Pretty good value, access to showers, lockers(required a mini padlock €3.50, no locker is marked or numbered so remember the one you chose). Got there at 9am, got busy at midday. Popular with tourists and Madeirenses. Cafe reasonable prices. There are 2 toddler pools with 3 small slides in shallow water. If your hotel pool is good then Maybe check sea entry from lido is not roped off, but pool is very large up to 5ft deep. So if not bothered about sea swimming still good to go and you can take in the dramatic views as Sea crashes over the rock wall. Swells in sea rose up and down of 10 ft when swimming to ladder to climb back to lido, great fun, do remember to be careful swimming in the sea. Madeira not a beach, there's no beach to swim to if your not used to swimming in the sea, or climbing the ladders(they were little slippery). We stayed for nearly 6 hours. Just before entry there's a very good ice cream parlor(€3.50 for 2 scoop cone) which we went to...
Read moreThis place fills up quick! Including the parking lots near it. It does have more parking up the hill at the shopping center. It's only a 5 minute walk. When we got there the umbrellas and lounge chairs were all taken up, but if you keep your eye out you can find ones that are being left and ask the staff for those. It cost us €5 for 2 lounge chairs and an umbrella. Totally worth it with littles as the sun was surprisingly hot.
Even though it was crowded, the pool itself didn't seem very crowded. I guess as there are so many options to swim at. There is the main pool with 2 entry ways. One side is deep and the other side has a 8 inch space for lounging or the kids to splash in. There is the ocean where you can enter via stairway or diving board and there is a floating pad you can swim to. There are also 2 children pools. One is for smaller kids and has 2 small slides and the other one is for older kids with one bigger tube slide. The pools are salt water.
There are outside showers and there is a bathroom with 2 stalls. No baby changing station or dressing rooms.
There is a restaurant. I got fries, Pepsi, and pastry. All were good. The staff was very helpful and kind.
A SSI scuba school is located here as well.
All the staff I ran into spoke English. All were...
Read moreRead moreFirst time i didn't really like it - we went with 3 years old daughter - way to enter the ocean is only available through stone stairs or metal ladder and you instantly get into deep water & swimming pool wasn't cool for us - so we had to do spare swimming - one of us went to ocean while other did pool with a child. Additionally there was a lot of people at the time so we barely managed to find a 2 m2 of free space on the floor - i was disapointed. And second time was....fantastic - totally changed my mind about this place - we found a way to swim with kid in ocean, got a lot of pleasure from platform on ocean and jumping trampoline, and rented 2 sunbeds (5 EUR) + umrella which made our time totally comfortable + 3 swimming pools are also pretty cool (2 for children and 1 adult) = amazing place, especially when not...
