I had the Studio superior room with "frontal sea view" including breakfast.
Positive:
The location is good
-The rooms are great for the price, clean, looks nice(and kept clean by the service)
-The view is good. Not great because there are many hotels between you and the sea but still good enough, you can still see the sea.
-The service is good, especially the cleaners are awesome
-comes with a kitchen with an okay amount of tools. The pans are very small though.
-The pool looks a bit outdated but the size is okay if there aren't many people inside. Pretty clean.
-If you want vegan breakfast/food, ask the staff in advance - you'll get a very basic breakfast (Cereals, soy milk, vegan cheese). That's enough, i didn't expect more for the price.
-Wifi is okay, enough for netflix and so on.
-The hotel staff in total was very nice, all of them. And always helpful with good information.
Negative:
The streets in this area smell bad.
You can't close the bathroom door. It's a sliding door. There is no window in the bathroom.
Breakfast is a little bit disappointing if you don't eat meat or eggs. Very few fruits (most not fresh, i expected better for an island known for its fruits) and vegetables. Sometimes there is watermelon, which is actually good. The fruit juice is strongly sweetened or tastes fake, depending on which you choose.
It doesn't matter where you are, if you close the balcony door (which you can't because it's too hot with no AC), if you put noise cancelling headphones on, if you hide in the bathroom, if you are at breakfast, if you are in bed trying to sleep...
... you will ALWAYS hear the extremely loud (not exaggerated) AC or whatever it is from the next Hotel. It's always on, never stops and makes it very uncomfortable to sleep. This should be the same for every room because it's so damn loud. Be aware of all the other hotels in this area, you can hear the AC from like 100m away.
-The beds are okay but they are separated instead of having one big one. Bad for couples who like to cuddle. Also, they are very short. I am 1,90m tall and half of my legs aren't on the bed if i lay straight on it.
conclusion: The rooms and the service are very good for the cheap price. But it comes with inconveniences. I would book this hotel again for sure if the extreme noise...
Read moreWhen we got to the room we noticed the dirty sheets smelling like mold. The towels were also stained and smelled. The floor was sticky and dirt came off it into our socks, there were also piles of dirt and hair on the floor. When we told the staff they seemed annoyed and didn't want to help. After a long struggle, the staff handed us new, equally dirty sheets, which we still had to change ourselves. First night we didnt sleep at all because of all the dirt and fear and at 7am we woke up to a fire alarm which we were not informed anything about. Breakfast was ok. But at the breakfast there were many pigeons so you had to really watch your food and the staff did nothing about them. The staff was really rude throughout our trip. The service was completely lacking and whenever there were problems they just put us customers to take care of them ourselves, a very unsafe hotel this should not be allowed. Elevator is not safe at all it got stuck many times during our stay but they still didn't take it out of service. The fire doors once got locked and the once traveling with me couldn't get out from behind them, but when we went to the reception desk to ask for help, they just told us to push and didn't come to help. While at the swimming pool, the cleaner dropped a glass from high on the balcony directly into the pool area where there were children. Anyway, it took closer to hours before the glass was finally cleaned and a few people had time to step on the broken glass. Our room was also very dated and needs to be uptated. The only plus is the location and the sea view from the room. Our toilet was very dated and the showerhead didnt work well and it smelled like sewer. The towels were changed if you went and asked but some of them were...
Read moreWe have booked this hotel for a family trip with 3 adults and 1 child. The recently renovated apartment we were given was huge, above 60 sq meters for sure. The kitchenette was fully equipped with sink fridge with freezer shelf, induction hobs, microwave oven, electric kettle, toaster, filter coffee machine, cutlery, pans to cook and washing up liquid. The complimentary fruits were also quite nice and well appreciated. The beds including the sofa bed were quite comfortable and there were plenty of storage facilities for a long stay. The bathroom was fully equipped with soap, hairdryer and was spotless clean everyday. We had two balconies with a wonderful sea view, one balcony in the bedroom and another balcony in the living room. The breakfast was fabulous and all staff extremely friendly, we had dinner once and it was also good. The outdoor pool should be nice during the Summer, during the Winter season one can visit the indoor pool from sister hotel Dorisol Buganvilia, which is some 400 meters away, beach towels are provided free of charge. The hotel is well located in an area full of shops, restaurants, post office and supermarket, a shopping centre is also within a 10 minute walk, the bus stop to Funchal city centre is on one street further down from the hotel. The bus to the city centre takes about 10 minutes. We did not use the TV or the internet, therefore I cannot commend about them. I highly recommend this hotel to everyone, also for families...
