Surprised by how good this place was (Hard to tell with all the fake reviews these days). Great old school family run traditional steak and seafood restaurant, different from the standard tourist traps. No pretentious fluff just great Madeiran dishes prepared from scratch. Food took a little while to come out so if you are in hurry I would suggest getting in early.
You could tell everything was cooked fresh with homemade sauces and desserts. The prawn sauce with the fish dishes was a highlight. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Even the house red wine was great.
Was initially put off by the location (above a supermarket) but actually turned out to be a great spot. Away from the crazy tourist places on the main street, with nice easy parking. Nice friendly local owner with some great recommendations and all the staff had real character.
Also after dinner the hotel across the road had a happy hour cocktails in a nice sea view garden. Can highly...
Read moreWe were very satisfied with our experience. The prices are fair and reasonable. For example, we paid only €3.50 for a bottle of water.
Our main course consisted of two different dishes. I had a delicious pork fillet with fries, while my wife enjoyed a typical Brazilian dish called "Picanha." This dish featured tender steak served with rice and black beans. Both dishes were accompanied by an excellent homemade pepper sauce that complemented the flavors wonderfully.
For starters, we chose Shrimp Au Bin, which was served in a delicate wine sauce. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the sauce was delightful.
What stood out the most was the excellent service. The staff was extremely attentive and friendly, which made our visit even more enjoyable.
All in all, our visit was a great success. We highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely...

I noticed he did the same to another table of tourists outside but was quite friendly towards the local and shook their hands when they left. Honestly, I think the service needs to improved because we are here to enjoy the food, not your attitude and poker face. PS the younger waiter was much...
