They have exactly two vegetarian main dishes: a pizza and the spinach ravioli. We ordered both and received some ravioli with a suspiciously meaty filling. We asked a second waiter if these were in fact the vegetarian ravioli. He said yes. Later, the bill said "Ravioli di Carne".
As we asked our original waiter (who took our order) about the meat ravioli stated on the bill, we were immediately told that as we had already eaten the dish it could not be taken off the bill - without us having said anything about that at all. Our objection about the fact that we didn't order the meat ravioli as we don't eat meat was dismissed and the mistake was blamed on the second waiter. Also, the moment we had a complaint, the waiter refused to speak English with us. Errors can occur, but we were very disappointed with the way it was handled and would have appreciated at least a more sincere apology.
If you only have two vegetarian options, how hard is it not to mess up the orders? Pizza was OK....
Read moreService was terrible, slow, too busy with them self's and unfriendly. Had to wait about 20 minutes after we were seated for a menu or to be asked if we wanted a drink. After our starter the same waiter who took our order in the first place asked if we had a main course. Seems they forgot. After the main course was done they took our plates. They kept cleaning out other tables and preparing to finish up for the night. It took them 35 min to ask if we wanted to see a dessert menu. By that time we were fed up with the lousy and unfriendly service. They were more concerned with cleaning up for the night then serving the customers. The only customers that were getting a decent service it seems were people they knew and Portugese. Food was okay just not very warm. Definitely never going back and wouldn't recommend to others. (For reference we arrived at about 20:30 and left 22:20 only having shared a garlic bread starter and had a pizza and risoto...
Read moreWhat a nice little restaurant! Waiter was particularily attentive, let down towards the end.
We ordered a Diavola pizza and a pizza with chicken and veg, both of it were quite good. We asked for some extra sauces and got chili oil, garlic oil and oregano - all of which tasted great.
The waiter offered desserts, we were unsure so he offered a taster of the tiramisu which was a lovely touch, it wasn't great (waiter did warn us it wasn't) so we went with ice cream which was fairly good.
The reason for 3 / 5 stars for service is they tried to charge us for the taster of tiramisu, based on their reaction when we pointed it out I don't believe it was a genuine mistake but an inentional one hoping we didn't look at the bill. Pity as otherwise service was outstanding and would've brought the rating higher.
Overall I would go there again if I visit Funchal...
