Barbearia Oliveira — Attraction in Lisbon

I've come to this barbershop plenty of times in the past, I like the vibes of the place and the people are really nice whenever I've entered, they're super easy to talk to while at the same time respectful of silence if you want to be quiet. The cuts however, have often been not great. I have been attended by a total of three different people over time I believe, and I'm convinced they don't fully know how to handle curly hair. I have multiple times now decided to fix the haircut they gave me in another place. Despite this, I kept going there because I'm always wary of barbers and hairdressers I've never been to, because it's conveniently close to my home, because of the reasons mentioned in the first paragraph and because the cuts were never bad enough to pick another place as my primary choice.

This changed yesterday, when I was attended by the guy with the colored streaks in his hair. This is not an attack on his person, but he seemed to completely ignore what I explicitly asked him to do with my hair: I wanted to trim only about a third of my long hair, and I didn't want the top to have more volume than the sides, I wanted it to be more uniform; to this, he almost completely removed my hair on both sides, except at the top, which is the complete opposite of what I asked.

This made me realize this place really isn't for me, I'm not sure if what happened was a failure of communication or if there was something I missed about the place only going for a specific style of haircut (although the pictures decorating the walls will tell you otherwise). Either way, it made me decide to never step my feet...

Pedro crushed my cut. He is extremely friendly and professional. Dude went to work on my hair and you could tell he’s a professional that really cares about how you look and feel. If I could give more stars I would. Also this place is a total vibe. Feels like you step into a European shop back in the 60s. Almost everything is original from when they first opened in 66. This classic barbershop is wonderful and the service is fantastic. I had an excellent cut from the new owner, who was so endearing and told me fantastic stories about the two original owners of the shop. I had the cleanest cut, and felt so refreshed, exactly what I needed during my stay in Lisbon. Bring cash. I forgot to do that, but the owner directed me to the closest ATM, never worried that I wouldn’t be back… part of the good will of this...
