We had a wonderful meal and experience. The four of us were going to go to the Greek restaurant across the street but it was sold out. The gentleman who greeted us at the greek restaurant suggested O Lavrador for a traditional Portuguese dinner, so we made our way across the street. We were greeted and sat down at a table. Very few of the staff spoke English, actually a good sign. Fortunately there was a young lady, Patricia, who appeared to work there who was on her way home with her sons because it was a school night. She took the time to help us order and relayed the information to our server Se, short for Jose. We had appetizers, sangria, chicken, fish and steak, our favorite was the chicken. I went there twice on a perfectly good mood to buy some takeaway chicken. Everything is fine when you order your chicken but if you ever ask for some spicy sauce the guy will switch into a ball of fire and curse you and your descendents for some obscure reasons. They have excellent grilled sardines in summer ( the sardine fishing season). The staff is very nice and friendly, and the ambiance genuine, with a basis of regular local customers.
