I'm sitting in the botanical garden writing this. It is definitely worth a visit and paying 2 euro's for the view. When entering the garden to the left are greenhouses amongst other things up the stairs. The view from up there over the garden towards the river and beyond is great at 16:30 with the sun at the tighy hand side. The pictures don't do it justice but at least it gives an idea. Read moreA very underrated place. For only 2 euros, you can take a walk through the first Lisbon botanical garden from a historical point of view. The garden is a bit abandoned but has its own charm. I especially liked the unusual fountain, where snakes, toads, and mythical otters with tails emit jets. One can assume that J.K. Rowling was inspired by this fountain to create the basilisk's secret room. And there are also white peacocks walking around and incredible plants growing there.
