Review regarding Victor Gonçalves Algarve Tennis and Fitness Centre (ATFC)

We can’t praise and recommend Victor Gonçalves enough. Wow, he is an amazing tennis coach.

We were thrilled with the coaching he gave us when were on a recent holiday in Val do Lobo.

When we arrived at the ATFC we were just visiting to have some lunch and a look around. However, while we were having lunch we happened by chance to meet the one and only Victor Gonçalves.

We were having a nice chat with him and were immediately struck by the way he spoke about tennis in a completely different way to any coaches we’d had lessons with previously - a way that was both easy to understand and crucially in a way that was straightforward to apply. We are intermediate, team standard, tennis players and we play a lot of tennis already. However, we were so impressed with the way he spoke about tennis that we decided to have a few lessons with him.

What a great decision that was. His lessons were simply the best ever.

Victor had simple but highly effective methods for identifying our individual strengths and weaknesses; he was able to show us how to use less energy (equals more time) on court; how to perform the technically correct tennis shots (shadowing them and playing them out). In three lessons we covered all the shots in the game of tennis, grips and also strategy for both singles and doubles.

Victor’s lessons became the highlight of our holiday. A huge thank you to you, Victor. You have made us much better tennis players. We feel that we have improved considerably and benefitted enormously from meeting you and feel very privileged to have received your excellent coaching.

We only went for the foot golf, which was ok, but not more than that.

The course consisted mostly of a hard desert-like surface, while the holes was on greens made of artificial turf. More or less all of the greens were located on small heights, which made it quite difficult to calculate how hard you ought to hit the ball without it rolling down again from the green.

The course is, in my opinion, mostly suitable for fairly good players. To play this with small children may cause more...

Can't recommend this place highly enough. Just has something different about it. I'm not the best tennis player to have played tennis in the Algarve by a country mile but I don't feel judged by any of the coaching staff and the social scene is great too. One of my friends from the UK came here on a tennis holiday with her family and loved it too.
