I'm sorry to say that... it's just terrible, great building, but content is not there at all.. it's no art.. just a bunch of things pretending to be art. They should bring some real authentic artis to dialog... otherwise, is just wasting space there, I rather give my 3 eu ( ticket price ) to commonly seen local fellows with substance abuse problem and ask them to do some art, and I bet they Ya they would perform in way more interesting and creative of box aproche , at least I would be willing to experiment like this, ( contributing to community here too ) I hope this express my condolences for dead art at this place, and I hope it will bring some constructive criticism dialog to the table ( if they have one ) so here is the overview of landscape here on this island...

Pretty interesting experience and I definitely appreciate the space itself - there is a lot of room for the art to breathe and it's a nice change to have to walk from room to room sometimes between individual pieces. That said, the art itself, specifically the "Festa. Fúria. Femina. " Exhibition didn't excite me that much. Most of the pieces felt too random to me and a bit effortless sometimes. That said, I am not a huge enthusiast of this particular style of art, so to each their own. We were allowed (and required) to keep our heavy hiking backpacks at the reception, which was nice. There are also restrooms available.

A gem in Ribeira Grande, didn't know about its existence until the 3rd trip on this island! Beautiful building dedicated to the arts. Walked out feeling very inspired. There was also a small exhibition above the museum shop. The main highlight for us was all the interesting facts about the Azores islands that we learned from a lovely man in the library section. Thank you so much.

I love the architecture of this place, but honestly the exhibition is a bit random. Mixed artworks without any explanation. Horribly curated if you ask me. More than half of the museum is closed or unused, so much wasted potential. Not just disappointing for me as a visitor who can't enter all rooms, but also a waste of space for upcoming artists who might be looking for exhibition venues. Please expand your exhibition and open all rooms for visitors, since you have such an amazing building! Also library closes for 90 minutes around lunch time which was a pity since I really enjoyed scrolling...
