Hello there.l Landed now? Fan of fish and friendly service? Reasonable priced too? Great. Monte verde is situated just 200 mtrs from a nice, soft, clean beach. You enter the bar with this very classic movie atmosfere...the mean guys with tattoos looking at you right at the entrance. You doubt. Seriously doubt on going forward or step back. FORWARD PLEASE Inside you see the fridge with the catch. Price list. Choose the one you like and the guy will do it

Served with a pinch of salt , this big mouth red or whatever the name was, tasted gently yet with a subtle fishy taste. The meat was with tender texture on the mouth and flavored a bit of lemon it would work well.

It come served with a salad. Nothing to remember. Sad thing, Portugal having these killer greens you are served this cafe from a hospital ready to go salad...And i say bar and not strait from hospital to patients, because the salad had 3 small pieces of onion...PITY! Sorry , first point down. The potatoes and sweet potatoes. Sorry, to long in the water, NOT GOOD

Standard coffee and drinks. Nothing that deserves special mention on this area.

Service, superb, homy, simple, warm. GREAT

Final note. Worth the visit.FOr the fish and for the service. The view, with the right electrical storm in front, could be great.

Folgendes passierte: Mein Partner hat nach einem tollen Fischrestaurant gesucht. Wir waren insgesamt eine Gruppe von 4 Personen. Fisch isst aber nur er. Aufgrund der Rezensionen, auf die wir reingefallen sind, hat er sich für dieses Restaurant entschieden. Wir gingen rein und wurden OHNE überhaupt was zu fragen, direkt unhöflich unten an der "DEKO-FISCHTHEKE" abgewiesen. Es wäre kein Platz. Okay, ja gut. Mein Partner war aber kurz oben und es war OH WUNDER - ALLES LEER. Er fragte, ob er nicht schnell einen Fisch essen könnte, weil er das Angebot so gut findet und erklärte gleichzeitig, dass wir keine Fischesser sind und nur was trinken würden, ob das okay sei. Erst hieß es nein und wir gingen raus. Ganz plötzlich rief jemand - ok, Ihr könnt doch kommen. Wir vier also nach oben. Und dann - jetzt kommt´s - wurden wir ALLE VIER in einen Außenbereich gebracht (RAUCHERBEREICH) ohne Aussicht usw. Mit wenigen Sitzgelegenheiten. Wir sollten dort warten. Und derjenige, der Fisch isst, wird reingeholt, sobald dieser fertig sei. Die erste unglaubliche Frechheit. Mussten die uns also in der Abstellkammer "verstecken"?! HAHA vor wem denn? War ja NIEMAND anderes da. ALLE - ich wiederhole - ALLE Tische waren zu dem Zeitpunkt frei. Mein Partner hat sich unten einen besonderen Fisch an der Theke ausgesucht, der alles andere als günstig war (bluemouth fish). Ihm wurde versichert, dass er genau diesen kriegt. Alles klar. Da saßen wir also. Zwei von uns sind direkt gegangen. Warum vier Getränke bestellen für diese unhöfliche Behandlung? Sie gingen schonmal zum Auto und haben ein vernünftiges Restaurant gesucht. Wir saßen also zu zweit und wurden vom Personal voll gequalmt. EKELHAFT in der kleinen Kaschemme. Zumal wir Nichtraucher sind. Echt, ich sag´s Euch. Ekelhaft!!!! Dieser "Außenraum" war nicht außen, sondern vollständig mit Bambus oder so und Plastikdach zu. Irgendwann wurde ihm dann gesagt sein Fisch sei fertig und wir DURFTEN eintreten. Am Tisch (ebenfalls in der hintersten Ecke) angekommen, nahm der Kellner die Getränke auf. Ich habe aus Prinzip gar nichts mehr bestellt und mein Partner ein Softdrink. Wir hörten wie sie die Dose an der Theke öffneten und brachten uns die oder irgendeine offene Dose zum Tisch. Das alleine ist schon ein Abturner und sowas macht man als Kellner nicht. Das haben wir NOCH NIE erlebt. Flaschen und Dosen werden mit Glas zum Tisch gebracht. Weiter ging es: der "Fisch" kam. Oder soll ich sagen, das was von irgendeinem Fischrest übrig blieb?! ERBÄRMLICH!!! Es kamen kalte, undefinierbare Fischstückchen. Das hätte ALLES sein können, aber mit 1000000% Garantie NIEMALS das, was bestellt und gezahlt wurde. BETRUG hoch 10!!! Diese Stückchen schmeckten sehr alt, waren dunkel und trocken. Die Beilagen (Pommes und Salat) nicht genießbar. In der Zwischenzeit las ich die Restaurantbewertungen nochmal genauer und wir lachten uns kaputt....manche Leute sollten sogar fegen. Ohne Spaß! Glaube ich sofort! Das Personal ist die Unhöflichkeit in Person. Wie eine Mafia. GANZ GANZ GANZ SCHLIMM!!!! Nicht umsonst hatten viele eine Lebensmittelvergiftung!!! Seid gewarnt. Gott sei Dank hatte mein Partner keine Vergiftung. Er hat auch vieles liegen lassen. Lasst Euch nicht blenden!!!! Es gibt viele andere Restaurants, die vielleicht weniger Bewertungen haben, aber 1000000 mal besser sind. Unterstützt...

Came for an evening meal on recommendation. It is a little by itself - follow the signs for Praia Monte Verde and you will see it facing away from the beach. The basic bar was full of locals and the waiter came downstairs and said we hd to pick our fish before we were shown upstairs. He recommended a fish platter with 3 fish - grilled or fried - plus potatoes and salad for 45 Euros for 3 people - which we selected. We went to a well decorated room upstairs which had 2 families in. We asked for suggestions for white wine and the alter was very helpful and then had bread and cheese while we waited. When the meal came it was the 3 whole fish chopped into sections including heads on one plate plus a plate of salad and potatoes. There wasn’t actually much fish and it was cooked variably with some bits being underdone and I don’t really understand why they left the heads on the plate - maybe to make it seem like more food! The whole meal came to around 65Euros which is not cheap, so overall an experience but not one we are...
