It was a nice small zoo with almost all the land mammals you can find in Iceland. Mostly farm animals. They even had lizards and a snake even though reptiles are forbidden in Iceland. The animals looked good. No wounds or anything. And they seemed to be happy except for the horses. They all have been outside. Mostly on gass fields which were big enough and animal friendly. But we also saw the stables where they are in winter. The stables are very small and out of metall. Still bigger cages and a better life than how animals for meat and dairy are kept. So everyone who eats meat, cheese or drinks milk should stop complaining. Which was really bad is how the horses were kept. They were standing on a stony ground which is bad for the hooves and had no hay. Horses are duration eaters, so that's not good. At least they had water. Also the seal cage is way to small for 5 seals. Same goes for the guinea pigs but here I have to say there are many private owners who have even smaller cages. If you want to see all Icelandic farm animals in one location you can go here. If you feel to sorry for animals and your a vegan who doesnt like to see animals kept like this you should avoid this zoo.

I really enjoyed this small zoo! Its half animals exhibits and half children’s playground in the back but a lot of the playground was closed for the season. I was only there to see iconic animals of Iceland up close and I was happy! The enclosures are smaller than in the US and the zoo in general is very small- but exhibits were very clean; Its not a full blown “zoo” like in the US. Lots of friendly farm animals with Reindeer, seals, a mink, and foxes to also see. There was also a small indoor room to see a few reptiles, amphibians, and inverts- possibly a sanctuary for exotic pets. It was a great place to see foxes and Icelandic horses up close in the capital! No puffins or other rare birds but they do have some birds & chickens. The tickets weren’t expensive and IMO it was worth it to see the cute foxes. It would be a great place for children and great for people who really want to see an arctic fox or seal! The foxes were my personal favorite because you can see them play outdoors or go inside a toasty warm shed what displays part of their den- we saw a fox still sleeping inside! As far as parking goes we parked at the ice rink which we were informed was free :)

Visited on a Sunday. morning in late May. Beautiful sunshine definitely helped! Lovely little urban farm/mini zoo. Ideal for kids. Couldn't see anyone feeding or petting the animals but can get close to them. Beautiful sheep, goats, cows, horses, reindeer (but they were not that close), and birds. The cows were stunning. All animals looked really well cared for, healthy and clean. Seals were a surprise but it's always a bit sad to sea ocean mammals in a tiny pool. Lizards/reptiles in glass tanks. Nice gift shop. Zoo extends across a bridge to what looks like a children's amusement park. Good value entrance fee - can't recall the exact price. And the best bit - no tourists!

Such a peaceful spot as it’s a lovely walk down to the place as it’s surrounded by a wonderful park. Not the biggest of zoo’s we have visited but the place is very well looked after and the animals just as good to. It was a very small sum we payed to enter and it was very quite inside as we visited while it was snowing heavily around so I wouldn’t be able to explain on how busy it is on a regular basis but if you have a bit of spare time it’s a nice little family day out

We visited Reykjavík Park and Zoo in mid December. Due to the time of year the zoo was very quiet, with the majority of the animals kept indoors because of the weather. The ticket staff are not particularly friendly, nor were they helpful or insightful. The highlight was the play area for the children to let off some steam. They had a good playground and even a frozen pond to play on. Due to the cost and small size of the attraction, I don’t think I would visit again.

did not love this experience we were looking for a change of scenery for a few hours and thought this would be nice. it wasn’t. i’m sure if you have tiny kids you could kill a few hours here -there is a whole section for kids with some rides -but there is very little to see and what you do see isn’t great or seem that well cared for. would not recommend. gave it a second star just because the seals did try to make us happy which made us sad.
