We started here on our art museum hopping and I'm so glad we did. The sun was shining and hitting the sculptures in the garden in a beautiful way, I didn't know where to begin.
The inside is also beautifully architected (by the artist himself of course) and refracts light well. It's a photographer's dream. The sculptures themselves were emotive and interesting--the descriptions were thorough but not invasive to the experience. The gallery assistant was SO lovely and really chatted to my parents--two people who don't tend to talk about art. Oh and the coffee is free and DAMN good!

Read more[September 2021] included in the Reykjavik Art Museum ticket, which allows entry into 3 separate museums if used within a 24 hour period, it was an excellent display of many of Sveinsson’s works, with the Museum space itself being where he had lived for a period of time until his death. I found the “Revolvement” piece especially striking and beautiful with the stained glass panels, although it could not be fully appreciated on a cloudy day like when I had visited. Read moreAmazing place, albeit it's small, its nice amd quiet, us being the only two there at the time. Got served free coffee, which was nice especially when coming in from the cold. The lady that was there was extremely nice and friendly, she seemed very busy but she took her time out to explain many things to us. The museum is the artist house, which is unique. Amazing work. Eventhough it is of the beaten track its definitely worth a visit.
