Muzeul Etnografic al Moldovei — Attraction in Iași Metropolitan Area

It’s a little underwhelming and miniature for an ethnographic museum. This might be a lack of context because there is not much English. I didn’t see anything older than 200 years. This makes it not so well-priced, for Romania. ▫️ The staff were really lovely. Obviously the building is astonishingly beautiful. I kinda wish I chose one of the other museums instead though. ▫️ The clothing display is quite wonderful. And in the middle room of textiles, you get a sense of their acoustic function, as it blocks out the sound from the other rooms. ▫️ I get a little bit embarrassed when you see archaic or super basic implements but then it says 19th or 20th century. We bought 2 tickets for all the sections : the full price is 40 ron, we were asked to pay 60 with some discount but actually got tickets worth 50 lei. We paid by card, but I imagine that even so they probably find a way to keep the difference of money, as with cash it's obvious. Really sad when museum people do something like this or ask for your tickets as you go out (astra museum Sibiu, another big one). This isaybe the largest and best section, with paintings, wall rugs, Easter eggs, traditional clothing etc. This can easily compete with peasant museum...

Muzeul Etnografic sau după mine "Muzeul Satului românesc situat în unul dintre cele mai frumoase Palate gotice din România" prezintă istoria etnică a poporului nostru, punându-se accentul pe regiunea Moldovei. Locul m-a emoționat din cauză că noi românii nu mai cunoaștem acea unitate de demult, iar scopul nespus al vizitelor mele a încercat să surprindă tocmai acest fapt: importanța fiecărei regiuni istorice românești, și respectarea tuturor tradițiilor și culturii din acele zone. Chiar dacă originea noastră e din alte părți ale țării, în noi bate o inimă atât de transilvan, cât și de moldovean, oltean, dobrogean sau muntean. Vorba unei doamne întâlnite aleator, "nu contează de unde ești, contează să fii om!" Cât despre muzeu, e tare tare frumos că încă oamenii păstrează vestigii ale culturii neamului ăsta. Acea barcă văzută pe aleea centrală (dealtfel văzută și în Crișana, și în capitală) am apreciat-o că fiind cea mai mare și mai bine păstrată de până acum. Merită să opriți timpul o clipă pentru a ne reîntoarce în vremurile trăite de ai noștri...
