The Synagogue is a significant architectural landmark in Timisoara, known for its eclectic style and historical significance. Despite its designation as a protected historical monument in the city, several sections of the building have yet to undergo restoration. Although the synagogue gate bears a notice indicating that it is open to the public every Sunday from 5 PM to 8 PM, it is closed and not accessible for visiting.

I visited the synagogue during the exhibition Veronica Taussig "Roots and reflections". Opened till 10.09.2023 The excellently prepared exhibition resonates clearly inside the old synagogue. The building is under renovation, but renovation is already visible. It is worth visiting both the exhibition and the synagogue for impressive aesthetic impressions.

Sinagoga Cetate (Sinagoga din Cetate) je eklektična sinagoga mavarskog stila neologa iz kasnog 19. veka u Temišvaru, Rumunija. Zgrada, proglašena za rumunski istorijski spomenik, jedna je od najpoznatijih u gradu i podseća na Velike sinagoge u Budimpešti i Berlinu. Sinagoga Cetate, izgrađena 1863. godine, nalazi se u središtu jevrejskog „zlatnog doba“ u Temišvaru. Nastao je u vremenskom periodu kada je car Franjo Josip I. ediktom dao nove slobode i ukinuo decenijama stara ograničenja nametnuta jevrejskom stanovništvu u gradu.

J'ai eu la chance de visiter l'intérieur de la synagogue que j'ai trouvée très belle. Il y avait une personne qui se chargeait de surveiller le lieu qui était très disponible. Il ne parlait pas anglais, nous pas roumain mais on a réussi à se comprendre grâce à Google traduction ahah. Je ne sais pas s'il est toujours là mais ce fût très agréable. L'intérieur de la synagogue est paisible. J'y suis allée un dimanche après-midi et il n'y avait pas beaucoup de monde.

Eine sehr schöne und kunstvoll sehr aufwendig ausgestaltete ehemalige Synagoge in der Innenstadt von Timisuara. Es handelt sich um ein denkmalgeschützten Gebäude, welches bis zu 3.000 Menschen Platz bietet und gehört damit zuden größtenSynagogen Europas. Die Synagoge wurde zwischen 1863 und 1865 im maurischen Stil erbaut.

Cetate Synagogue is a Jewish place of worship in Timișoara, located on Mărășești Street in the Cetate district. It was built between 1863 and 1865 in an eclectic style with Moorish elements. It is inscribed in the list of historical monuments in Timiș County. The synagogue reopened for the public in 2022.
