Our family was staying on a farm in the Uijlenkraal Valley not far from Bodhi Khaya over the Easter weekend from 6 - 10 April 2023 for a well-deserved break.
We were out and about visiting local wine farms, pristine beaches and other activities that the Overstrand area offers and I must say, have an abundance of.
In the evening we were looking forward to enjoying the tranquillity that the farm and the surrounding area had to offer but were "rudely awaken" by loud music every night that went on until the early hours of the morning.
We later found out that it was coming from Bodhi Khaya where the Greenpop festival was taking place.
Given that "Greenpop" is a nature-orientated organisation caring for the continued existence of forests and the restoration thereof, it was very disturbing and contradictory how they created serious noise pollution in such a beautiful environment for days in a row.

Read moreWe've been attending the Greenpop Reforest Fest since 2019, and once again, we've returned from an incredible weekend.
What I love about this festival is the perfect blend of live music from local talents, engaging workshops, and the opportunity to contribute to reforestation efforts by planting trees. It's not just for adults; there are plenty of activities tailored for kids, making it a fantastic family-friendly experience. They've managed to strike a great balance, offering early workshops for the eager learners and late-night music for the night owls.
When it comes to accommodation, there's something for everyone, catering to various needs and budgets. Just bear in mind, this is an eco festival nestled in a forest area, so expect shared compost toilets (kept clean and well-serviced), limited solar showers (though most opt for a refreshing dip in the dam), and a camping terrain that's not your typical flat, manicured setup—but that's all part...
Read moreI was looking for a way to give back to Earth and humanity and discovered Green Pop's open nursery days on Tuesdays. I have been volunteering now for the last 3 weeks and have had so much fun, learnt so much about composting and enriching earth's soil, and I have met a tribe of amazing human beings. I leave Green Pop every Tuesday with a smile so wide and tears of absolute gratitude. I feel blessed that I am helping change the world one plant at a time. I fall into bed exhausted but ecstatic. I will continue to tithe of my time in this way. Thank you Green Pop for helping educate people and for restoring Earth's eco-systems and with it my faith...
