When visiting South Africa, you quickly realize that pizza is likely not the same as what you’re used to back home. And honestly that’s ok because you should experience what the local culture and customs experience. But every once in a while you just want to eat what resembles what you’re used to back home.

And my GOODNESS! The Napoli crust at Pizza Connection is just so so good. That puffed up crust and paper thin center is just so good. The flavor and the texture of the dough is as good as everyone raves about.

Now my husband loves a good white pizza and he ordered the Johnny Love which is EVOO, Parma Ham and Burrata. I think you have to be an absolute purist for that pizza because that’s really all you got. The dough for his pizza seemed to puff up like a pita rather than sit like the other Napoli doughs. The pizza and the simplicity of the ingredients was delicious, but I could tell that he slightly regretted his pizza choice. Thankfully we try to order different items so we can share.

I ordered the Amatriciana on a Napoli crust. Wow, it’s just so delicious. The tomato sauce, the cheeses, the bacon, the dough, just so so good. And on top of that, they bring out these cute bottles of garlic oil and chili oil in what looks to be face moisturizer bottles or something. They’re so cute and the perfect vessel to adding a bit of extra flavor to your pizza.

The setting is a tight location filled with people all looking to have a fun time. We went with a group of 11 for dinner on a Friday night so we were thankful we could get a reservation. But was it loud in there, not really the spot you want to go to for conversations. But if you’re going for the food, get a red sauce Napoli pizza and...

Worst service in Cape Town. The management is extremely rude to customers.

We made an advance reservation, expecting a pleasant experience. However, what we experienced was complete neglect and extremely disappointing service.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were left waiting at the door. The restaurant is small, making it impossible not to see a couple waiting at the entrance, which led us to believe that we were clearly seen by the staff.

Despite this, we spent a considerable amount of time waiting, being completely ignored. The indifference of the manager/owner or maître, as well as that of the waiters, was evident. This is not the first time they have been extremely rude to me. And the manager couldn't care less about being kind. My fiancé had to stop a waiter, who was pretending to be blind, to inquire about our reservation.

They repeatedly passed by us without any eye contact or sign of acknowledgment, making us feel as if we were invisible.

A waitress who had previously served us noticed our uncomfortable situation.

To our surprise, she told us there was no table available, contradicting the purpose of a reservation. Furthermore, a clearly available table was claimed to be reserved for other customers, leaving us confused and frustrated. She asked us to sit at the outside table, where it's very windy, while inside the restaurant empty tables were waiting for customers who weren't there.

This created an unpleasant atmosphere with our presence, and to this day I wonder what we did to be...

Dear Sir,

I hope this message finds you well. I recently dined at your restaurant with a group of friends, and while we were thoroughly impressed by the exceptional food and lovely ambiance, I feel compelled to share some concerns regarding our experience We came specifically to try your legendary pizza, and I can confidently say it was among the best Italian food we've ever had in Cape Town. Our waitress provided outstanding service, making the evening enjoyable overall. However, we were disappointed by the behavior of the manager during our visit. As Black South Africans, we felt a noticeable lack of warmth and respect compared to white patrons. The manager greeted white customers with hugs and smiles, while we were met with indifference. This left us feeling unwelcome, and it was disheartening to observe. Additionally, we were given a two-hour limit to finish our meals despite there being empty seats in the restaurant, which further contributed to our discomfort. I believe your establishment has so much potential and should not be defined by one individual's behavior. I hope you can address this issue to ensure that all guests feel equally valued and respected. Thank you for considering my feedback. We do plan to return, as we believe in the quality of your food and...

This restaurant came highly recommended, but unfortunately fell quite short for us. Our starters, Trio delight, were deep fried with a very thick batter and sub par fillings. After waiting over 40 mins for our pizza, it was clear our order was forgotten. After reminding them we existed; we received our pizza 10 mins later. The pizza was burnt, with a very thick black crust, there were extremely minimal toppings and close to no cheese - granted I got the thin base, but this felt like eating tomato sauce on a burnt tortilla. The result led me to rank it as one of the worst pizzas I’ve ever had. Left as soon as we could - won’t be back.

Definitely 1 of the best pizzas you will have in South Africa, the super margherita. Excellent flavours, crispy edges yet still soft with a good chew on the inside. I was told that the Italian owner is particular about the ingredients and techniques used to create this and it shows. Try this and you will know for yourself. Note that I tried the Super Pizza Margherita 3 times before I wrote this review and on all occasions they pulled it off perfectly. Also try the caprese cake, it’s amazing.
