Pretoria Art Museum — Attraction in Tshwane Ward 92

I have been planning to go to a museum in Pretoria for a while. My laziness had me postponing a simple visit.

In one of those perfect pedestrian weather days I visited the closest Art museum I could find. At first what had me was the surroundings. Open air urban environment and right in the middle of a park that was rich with human activity, mostly filled with people enjoying Pretorias' summer weather was an intimidating abstract sculpture which invited my curiosity.

One thing I was not expecting was the fee of R20.00 for entry, because all public museums I've been in, in Central Johannesburg were for free. I told myself, what's a Street Wise Two any way.

I did into regret a cent, as the Abstract Sculpture was just the tip of the iceberg of what visual riches it housed. I found my thoughts suspended on the walls of someone elses' memorizes, that I...

The place needs maintenance services from the outside, honestly! 🙄

There's a small fee to pay (discounted when you bring your student card). 🙃

The museum does have variety of themes they cover but only 4 are the biggest. Out of the 4 themes only one stood out for me personally. Some of the displayed art is rather disappointing but it is still worth checking out. I'm just sharing so one wouldn't be disappointed due to high expectations.

I have such mixed feelings about this art museum. The art that is displayed is really amazing, and they have works by very interesting and well-known South African artists as well as international artists. The building and surrounds are, however, in a sad state. There is a large park around the building, complete with swings and slides for children, but the grass had not been cut for a while.
