Bupyeong Kkangtong Market, located in the heart of Busan, is one of the city’s oldest and most well-known traditional markets. It is famous for its wide variety of food, including fresh seafood, meats, vegetables, and traditional Korean street food. The market earned its nickname "Kkangtong," which means "cans," because it used to be a hub for imported canned goods after the Korean War. The market comes alive in the evening when it transforms into a bustling night market. Visitors can enjoy an array of street food, such as hotteok (sweet pancakes), tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), and fried snacks. In addition to food, the market also offers clothing, household goods, and souvenirs at affordable prices. Bupyeong Kkangtong Market is easily accessible by subway, with the closest station being Jagalchi Station on Line 1. It is located near other attractions like BIFF Square and Gukje Market, making it a convenient stop for tourists. The market is open daily, but the night market is particularly lively, so visiting in the evening is recommended for a full experience.

Exploring Bupyeong Khangtong Market during the evening unveils a lively scene, teeming with people and a palpable sense of excitement. The vibrant atmosphere is heightened by the long queues at nearly every food stall, each offering visually stunning and mouthwatering dishes. The culinary variety is extensive, presenting a tempting array of options for food enthusiasts. However, the bustling crowd can be a double-edged sword, making it less than ideal for those considering a visit with children in tow, especially during the nighttime hours. Navigating through the throngs of people might prove challenging with youngsters. Despite this, for those seeking an authentic culinary adventure and vibrant street food scene, Bupyeong Khangtong Market remains a captivating destination.

It was my second visit to Busan since 20 years ago. The first time was with my friends and this time with my parents. We made a one-day trip to Busan with which we realized tough to visit a variety places. One of the fun places was Bupyeong Kkangtong market which we encountered unplanned. .There were lots of street foods like Tteok-bokki which goes well with fried squid and fried dumplings. 😋 This is always the fun part. .As Tteok (rice cake) is my parent's favorite snack, we stopped by a rice cake shop and bought some O-mea-ki-tteok. My parents are planning a further tele-order as they fell in love with the taste.

It's awesome with street food lover. There are so many stalls where ou can find street food not only korean food but also of so many countries here such as vietnamese foods, turkey sandwiches, chinese foods or japanese foods. And out side of Bupyeong market, you will see so many restaurents and also many stalls that serve both soju and seafood in korean way. I just got lost here last weekend. It was so much fun with friends and I was so full LOL. Don't forget visit that night market. Oups! Bupyeong Kkangtong night market open at night till 24 o'clock. One more thing, Don't forget bring cash ;)

It was much smaller than expected. The rest of the usual day market was mostly closed with just one lane left operating. The night vendors then occupy that lane and set up their stalls alone the whole length of the lane. All in there are around 20 temporary night stalls + another 20 to 30 day shops that stay open. Even though not many stalls, there are already more than enough choices as almost all of them sell something different from one another, unlike other night markets where you find many stalls selling the same stuff.

A market that sells lots of stuff from food, seafood too other daily products. They also sells various snacks for you to try out. Lots of fish cake options here as well. There are also stalls with bar like seating just infron if them where they cook so you can easily choose the food you want and eat in front of them. There is the famous stall selling Tappoki (flour stick cooked I'd red sauce) with fish cake options, here as well. Rice Drink can also be found here.
