What's interesting about traveling with WOW KOREA is that you'll get the chance to experience not just the amazing and wonderful tourist attractions in Korea but also some unique activities such as exploring a night market! Yes, you read it correctly! We explored a famous night market in Daegu which is called 서문시장 or Seomon Market. Before coming here, we were handed coupons or market vouchers by Korea Tourism Organization and Daegu Tourism Organization which was awesome 😊😄👍. I personally received a total of 20K won which I used to buy food, desserts and some unique souvenir from this market. These vouchers are good as cash and you can get real money if there's an exchange. It was so much fun roaming around this market, especially with different stalls selling various kind of mouth watering food. I know the vouchers were not enough but it's understandable considering the variety of food being sold in this place. There were some tables and chairs intended for small groups to enjoy their meals and drinks. There was also a live performance from local artists which adds colors and fun to visitors coming here. It was an absolute fun exploring this cool market in Daegu. Lively place with sumptuous and great food equals an amazing experience here at Seomon Market. One thing I observed was that they were very strict with wearing mask which I think is good. Despite of being the epicenter before, Daegu is now safe to visit these days. Some stalls also have some sanitizers while others have reminders for visitors to keep their masks on their face while waiting on queue. Seomun Market, or 서문시장, is a bustling and vibrant traditional market located in Daegu, South Korea. Renowned for its rich history dating back to the Joseon Dynasty, this market continues to be a cultural and culinary hub. Wandering through the narrow alleys of Seomun Market is a sensory delight. The air is filled with the aromas of diverse street food offerings, from tteokbokki to bindaetteok, showcasing the region's culinary heritage. Vendors proudly display their goods, ranging from fresh produce to handmade crafts, creating a lively and authentic atmosphere. What sets Seomun Market apart is its authentic charm and the warm interactions with local vendors. As you explore, you'll find traditional hanbok shops, herbal medicine stalls, and more, providing a glimpse into both the past and present of Korean daily life. For those seeking a genuine taste of Korean street food and a chance to immerse themselves in the local culture, Seomun Market is a must-visit destination in Daegu. The market's authenticity and diverse offerings make it an enjoyable experience for tourists and locals alike.

Seomun Market is full of various food courts, souvenir shops, street foods, cloth shops, etc. I was provided market gift vouchers & an onnuri gift card worth of ₩20, 000 by the Korea Tourism Organization & the Daegu Tourism Bureau. Since the food is very affordable at this night market, ₩20,000 is quite difficult to spend at once. You can buy any stuff from this market by using market gift vouchers or onnuri gift cards; they work here as cash. I opted for a super tasty cheese lobster, a spicy takoyaki, and a refreshing mango ade in a unique bottle. Be prepared to wait for around 10-15 minutes for your turn to come as the market serves delicious food, and the locals usually come here to satisfy their cravings at night. If you happen to be in Daegu, make sure to drop by this market.

There are lots of food vendors, and it reminds me of Gwangjang Market in Seoul. Lots of offal, blood sausage (soondae/순대), incredibly fresh hand-cut noodles in soup (kalguksu/칼국수), acorn jelly salad (dotorimuk muchim/도토리묵 무침), and an local style of dumpling called napjack dumplings (납작 만두), which are only circles of wheat and glutinous rice dough filled with a few pieces of chopped scallions, folded into half moons, and pan fried. But cover them with their delicious sauce made with soy, vinegar, sugar, onions, fresh chilies, and dried chile powder, and they get interesting.

We arrived late at night (around 9.30pm?) so only the food section is open. There is a wide variety of food that range from the usual Korean street food (Kimbab, Chicken Tteokbokki, etc) to more trendy dessert (Tiramisu, cocktails, etc). The food was really delicious and priced reasonably (I tried the pork belly kimbab and Fried Chicken Tteokbokki at around 5000won each), although be prepared that you might have to take time to queue. There was also busking performance to add to the atmosphere, and you can also purchase other handmade and curated items at the same area.

This market is one of the biggest night markets in Korea. There are hundreds of vendors selling food, drink and souvenirs along the long main street till 10PM! The atmosphere is lively and the food selling here are really tasty with reasonable price from 2,000~6,000 Won. The Onnuri coupon and market gift voucher from Korea Tourism Organization can be used here too! The market is clean and easy excess by public transportation, which is just right next to Seomun Market Subway station.
