This is a must see location in Seogwipo!
The waterfall is walkable from the Seobok Exhibition Hall.
The waterfall is excellent to see from both the top where the stream flows above, and as it falls from the clifftop when you reach the bottom.
There is a Korean War Memorial (Seobok Park) and garden to view near the stream, that is worth the couple of minutes to walk around.
If you aren't physically fit, I'd note that there is a viewing platform at the top where the ticket booth is, but the view is more of a glimpse due to overgrown trees.
It's a lot of steep stairs to reach the bottom of the cliff to access the ocean viewpoints. There is no beach at the bottom of the cliff and you need to scramble over big beach boulders and rocky ground to be able to get the best vantage point.
It's a very busy destination, with many couples lining up to get the best photos. If you're there for photos, be patient about waiting for everyone to get their shots.
We helped other families and couples take photos together. And others returned the favour for us. This also helped people get their photos done faster for those waiting. So it was very nice to give and receive the help.
This is NOT a swimming destination.
We visited in September and it was very hot and humid. Bring cold water/refreshments with you, as you'll need them for the steep climb...
Read moreYou can find the ticketing office by 2 different directions. Once you get to the ticket office the price is 2,000 won for an adult, 1,000 for youth and kids (24 and under). You will need proof either drivers license or passport to prove your age if you are youth. Then you start walking down the stairs. (Be sure to get a picture there as you can’t go back that way). There is another ticket booth/entrance where you get your ticket scanned and off you go. The stairs are an easy climb, just a lot of people are slow and get in the way since people like to walk in groups it seems and not allow others to pass. There are trees that offer some nice shade. You head down and the bottom stairs are the most precarious, but still fine, just be careful when it’s wet out. Then you go on rocks. Some people get very close! Seems dangerous, but again as long as you’re cautious you should be fine. My fiancé and I sat on the rocks and enjoyed the waves and the sounds of the waterfall. Tons of tourists kinda wrecks your photos but that’s life I guess! The waterfall is very beautiful. Upon exit there is a nice pathway and cute little yellow archway inside there is garden/pond by a gazebo temple shelter thing stop in for a moment and relax. Once you exit that part there is a great view of where the waterfall...
Read moreJeongbang Waterfall is one of the most famous waterfalls in Seogwipo, located on Jeju Island, South Korea. It is unique because it's one of the few waterfalls in Asia that falls directly into the ocean. The waterfall is about 23 meters high, and visitors can enjoy the scenic beauty of the water cascading over cliffs into the sea.
To reach the waterfall, there is a short, easy hike down a series of steps. The area surrounding the waterfall has large boulders, so visitors should wear comfortable shoes to navigate the rocky terrain safely.
The entrance fee is approximately 2,000-3,000 KRW for adults. There are public restrooms and small shops selling drinks and snacks near the entrance.
It's recommended to visit during the early morning or late afternoon to avoid large crowds, especially during peak tourist seasons. The waterfall may also look more impressive after rainfall, as the water flow tends to be stronger.
Be mindful of weather conditions, as the area around the falls can become slippery when wet. Additionally, swimming is not allowed, but you can get quite close to the...
