'Dosan' Ahn Chang-ho Memorial Hall & Commemorative Project Association — Attraction in Seoul

Dosan Park, located in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, is a park dedicated to Dosan Ahn Chang-ho, a significant figure in the Korean independence movement. Ahn Chang-ho was an activist, thinker, and educator who devoted himself to Korea’s independence and modernization during the Japanese occupation.

Centered around Ahn Chang-ho’s tomb, Dosan Park includes exhibition spaces that introduce his life and achievements. To honor the spirit of Dosan Ahn Chang-ho, a great leader and mentor to the nation who dedicated his life to the modernization and independence movement of the Republic of Korea, the Dosan Ahn Chang-ho Memorial Society established the Dosan Ahn Chang-ho Memorial Hall on November 9, 1998. Through the museum’s exhibits and materials, visitors can learn about Dosan Ahn Chang-ho’s birth and upbringing, his activities with the Independence Association, and his diverse activities in the United States. 하나님의 사랑을 무실역행으로 실천하신 안창호 선생의 귀한 업적이 남겨져 있는 곳입니다. 안창호 선생께서는 1905년 처음으로 공립협회를 시작으로, 1907년에는 비밀 결사인 신민회에 들어가셔서 대구에 태극서관과 평양에 대성학교(서울에 있는 대성학교와는 물론 연관이 있지만 완전히 같은 학교는 아닙니다.)를 설립하셨고, 1913년에 지금까지 남아있는 안창호 선생께서 무실역행의 사상으로 이끄신 흥사단이 남아있습니다. 물론 안창호 선생께서는 미국에서 주로 활동을 많이 하신 게 사실이지만, 국내에서 활동을 하셨으면 아마 많은 혐의를 받으셨을 수도 있습니다. 1909년 안중근 의사 이토 히로부미 저격 사건에도 연루가 돼 있었다고 하시고, 1911년 1월에 105인 사건으로 인해 신민회가 해체되어 의심을 받아 결국 실력 양성 운동을 위해 미국으로 도피하셨다가, 이후 안창호 선생께서는 1923년에 상해로 돌아가셔서 국민대표회의에서도 개조파로 활동을 하셨지요. 그러나 1926년 수양동우회(흥사단의 국내 조직)을 결성 후 1932년5월에 윤봉길 의사 폭탄 투척에 의해 일본 순사의 불심 검문에 의해서 잡히셨다가 1937년에 수양동우회 사건, 즉 기독교인의 역할이라는 전단지를 배포하려다가 일본에 발각되어 결국 구속되어서 1938년 3월 10일에 돌아가셨지요. 안창호 선생께서는 자나 깨나 나라를 위해 실력 양성 운동을 전개하셨고 어느 누구보다 일제의 탄압 하에 잘 실행하셨던 분이라 안창호 선생께서는 기독교 사상을 바탕으로 대한민국을 살리기 위해 힘쓰셨던 분으로 기억합니다. 이런 분이 계셔서 지금의 대한민국이...
