Gaudí House Museum — Attraction in Barcelona

If you are a total Gaudi fan, you might want to consider visiting the house where he lived for the last 20 years of his life, inside Park Guell (although the building itself wasn't designed by him but by his collaborator Berenguer). And if you are passionate about furniture, you might want to consider visiting it aswell, as it is more a furniture display than a house-museum.

Some years ago, it felt more like a the house where he lived. Unfortunately, some late renovation have transformed it into a display of furniture with no soul. The good thing is that you see originals (while in other places such as Pedrera and Casa Batlló they are replicas).

But only the bathroom, the bedroom and a praying room (too poor to be considered a chapel) transport you back to the times when Gaudi lived there. And not so much, because as I said, the way things are arranged lack of warmth...

There are two floors to visit, but it's not really that big. Probably 15min will be enough to have a good look. So before paying the ticket, consider if the price is worth it for your own goals and interests or not.

If you decide to go in, it's a good idea to go BEFORE you visit Sagrada Familia, as this way you can get a combined ticket that will spare you the long lines...

A bad experience! Really! Three hours two get there. No police agent, nor even a taxi driver knew where this Casa Museu is! They took us to other places in Passeig Garcia or just didn't know!!!! It is in park guell and the metro station is green line lespess ... In the house there's nothing really worth the value you pay ... the assistants are moody girls that are there but could be anywhere else selling potatoes ... there are 3 places to visit on Park Guell and Gaudi's house is not the most sognificant. Visit the Parc Guell instead. Really different and worthwhile. Don't go to the only bar that there is nearby not even for a bottle of wate: too expensive and they dont change a cold one for a no cold!!!!!!. In the house and surroundings there's no water nor kindness. So if you buy a ticket online buy to Park Guell. The rest you can see online. I repent having lost one of my days on Barcelona with that. And don't forget ... you ll have a long way to go up befiore getting there! Gaudi's work is wonderful but the rest ia people and business! Maria...

Passeggiando per le strade del Parc Guell, mi sono imbattuto in una dimora che sembra emergere dal sogno di un uomo consumato dalla sua stessa visione. Questa non è una casa comune, ma un rifugio, un luogo dove la mente di Gaudí, così tormentata e allo stesso tempo geniale, ha trovato espressione. Già dall'esterno, la Casa appare come una rappresentazione fisica dell'anima del suo creatore: intricata, complessa, piena di curve che sembrano sfuggire alla logica geometrica per abbracciare una sorta di caos controllato.

Entrando, si avverte subito un’atmosfera che è al tempo stesso accogliente e inquietante. Ogni angolo, ogni dettaglio, sembra sussurrare il nome di Gaudí, raccontare frammenti della sua vita e dei suoi pensieri. Le pareti sembrano voler nascondere qualcosa, forse i tormenti interiori di un uomo che ha dedicato ogni fibra del suo essere all'arte e alla fede.

I mobili, progettati con la sitessa cura maniacale per i dettagli, sono a loro volta opere d’arte. Sono oggetti di bellezza, personaggi silenziosi che osservano, che giudicano, che ricordano. La sedia su cui Gaudí si sedeva, il letto in cui riposava, sono testimonianze mute di un’anima che cercava costantemente di conciliare il divino e il terreno, il sacro e il profano.

La casa, con i suoi spazi ristretti e le sue forme inusuali è, al tempo stesso, un luogo di pace e un labirinto mentale, un riflesso del viaggio interiore che Gaudí ha intrapreso nel corso della sua vita. Ogni stanza è un enigma, una domanda senza risposta, un invito a perdersi nei pensieri, proprio come i protagonisti dei romanzi di Dostoevskij che si perdono nelle proprie sofferenze e riflessioni.

Eppure, c’è una bellezza in tutto questo, una bellezza che non è superficiale, ma che nasce dalla lotta interiore, dalla tensione tra l’aspirazione verso il divino e la realtà terrestre. Questa casa è un monumento all'irrequietezza dell'anima, alla ricerca incessante di un significato in un mondo spesso privo di senso.
