Its not only about the Castle. Its about the whole little town of Begur and its surroundings! A beautiful finding in the area. With a lovely history, you just need to stroll on its little streets, full of colour and joy and nice people, discover amazing buildings and magnificent spots. Then take the way up to the castle with its beautiful view on the sea. You'll have a good outside parking just at the base of the town coming from Sa Riera (Font de Baix), or an inside parking in the centre of the town (Onze de Setembre), with acceptable prices both. We loved the Havana Restaurant (on the street that leeds to the castle) and the nice El Tapas de Begur just near the Church in Placa de la Villa. On the main street (Cami del Mar) you'll also have a Tourist Office if you want to know more about the town and its surroundings (it is closed between 2 and 4 pm though :( too bad in the summer I would say). We loved it so...

The real draw here is the town of Begur, a charming coastal town on top of a bluff filled with little restaurants and hotels. And, occasional, a weekday dance party that goes into the night playing terrible music but it sounded like they were having fun. The castle itself overlooks the town. There’s not much left of it, once you get up there, but the view is spectacular. And it’s not a difficult walk. I’m looking at it right now....

This castle is like no other, it just keeps the exterior and you can climb to the top and have a 360 degree view of all the area. You can see the nearby beaches (Pals, Sa riera, Sa tuna) as well as the mountains (Mountain of Torroella de Montgri -also with a castle on top and there is the myth you can see the silouette of a lying woman-) and the Pyrenees in the very back. You can also see all the town of Begur and take amazing...

Begur’s Castle dates back to the XI century. What remains of this medieval fortress is now an excellent place to take in sweeping views of the Costa Brava and of the Mediterranean Sea. Walk through the historic old town, follow the signs up to the castle. It is manageable and well worth it. Aside from the views, there’s not much to do there. Regardless, first timers should make a point to check out the castle.

Beautiful breathtaking views 360 degrees of the town, the forest around it and the sea on a good day. A 5 minute walk in a moderatly steep path up is required from the parking lot (I think you could call it wheelchair accessible to a degree but you'd need some strength or a power source for the push up, and then up the castle the floor is no longer paved). Worth it.
