Centro De Arte Contemporaneo Rafael Boti — Attraction in Córdoba

Visited this gallery on 22 January 2022, this being my second visit. I had previously visited the gallery approximately one year earlier.

The gallery is located in a building in the old town of Córdoba, a building which has been renovated internally in contemporary style and filled with natural light. The gallery houses a permanent exhibition of the work of Cordovan artist, Rafael Boti…work which reflects his association with the city, and which conveys the charm and beauty of Córdoba. It is an enchanting glimpse of the uncomplicated work of Boti, and a fine illustration of the range of colours, buildings and streets which make the city such a wonderful place to visit.

On the occasion of this visit, an upstairs gallery housed an arresting exhibition of photography titled ‘White on White’ (if my shallow knowledge of Spanish serves me correctly). The basic theme of the exhibition was one of the use of the colour white in architecture, featuring images of white buildings and parts of buildings in domestic, industrial and agricultural settings. I found it fascinating (I am no kind of expert in anything), and was very happy that I had decided to pay a visit on this occasion.

One final comment. When my wife, son and I visited the gallery, we were welcomed by the two security personnel on duty. As we concluded our visit with one final look at the Rafael Boti exhibition, one of the two gentlemen approached us and presented us with a gift of a beautiful book of the artist’s work. It was an amazingly generous and kind-hearted gesture, and one which we will never forget. Our immense gratitude and good wishes go to those two gentlemen, and, of course, to the local authority in Córdoba for providing us with such a wonderful memory of our stay in the city.

On our latest visit to Córdoba, my wife and I were keen to revisit this superb gallery. Again, we were enchanted by the building itself, the exhibition of Boti’s work and the two temporary exhibitions…one being of the work of sculptor José Manuel Belmonte, the other showing the work of artist Julia Hidalgo. The temporary exhibitions were, as on my previous visit, skilfully chosen works of superb quality.

Again, I found this to be a rewarding visit, enhanced by the welcoming approach of staff on duty. Again, my thanks to them and to the Disputación de Córdoba for making available this...

I really liked the Rafael Boti permanent exhibition. Beautiful colours and images with very interesting information about the artist and his work. I enjoyed it so much that I returned later with my wife who is originally from Cordoba. To my delight, a very sweet lady at the reception gifted me a beautifully illustrates book about the artist and his work. Ayer 12/01/2023 fuí a una presentación del artista Pedro Cañete y todo iva bien hasta que la mujer que la señora que nos estaba explicandl sobre las obras me faltó al respeto, me explico, yo soy una chica trans y varias veces en esta exposicion se requeria la colaboración del público lo cual me tocó y obviamente me identifiqué como chica además de que visto como una, media hora después casi al acabar volvió a pedirme colaboración y me trató de hombre cuando media hora antes me identificaba como chica y además vosto como tal, paré la visita y le dije que era una chica, lo cual ella ni pidió disculpas, me parece un hecho muy lamentable que la junta de Andalucia contraten a personas sin ningún tipo de experiencia ni conocimiento sobre ciertos temas ya que tu trabajo se basa en atender al público deberias saber que puedes encontrarte chicas trans o chicos trans y deberias saber identificarlos por su vestimenta pero ni eso hacen bien, aquella mujer me parecía una inconsciente, tuve que marcharme antes de terminar debido al nerviosismo y la calor del momento, una verguenza sinceramente decepcionante nunca volveré a ir y ojalá qie el que valla esté preparado para asumir...
