A rather disappointing experience! We had earmarked this spot earlier in the day as an interesting modern bar and upon arrival were snubbed by the staff for reasons unknown to us (we were smartly dressed and friendly, however cannot speak Spanish). They claimed to be fully booked but it was early in the evening and we could see a number of free tables in the courtyard, we advised we wouldn't be long, we were only looking to have one drink and some tapas. After a wait, we were seated by the disinterested hostess in a hidden corner where we could not get the attention of any staff to place an order. After 15 minutes I got up to ask for assistance, eventually someone came to take our order but he was so busy on his walkie talkie thing that he must have made an error with placing our order. The drinks arrived quickly, with a waiter who spilt the sangria all over the the table then dropped a pile of napkins for us to clean up after her! After 30 minute wait the two plates of Tapas had still not arrived. We watched as they turned away multiple enquiring guests who did not fit the 'profile' of their establishment, despite having at least 30 seats available that we could see (no reserved signs on the tables). They turned away more people than they permitted to enter and as another guest mentions there were more staff than guests at this point!! When we eventually got someone's attention, (we were at this point 20 mins late for our dinner reservation across town), we requested the bill, which arrived promptly with charges for the food that never arrived. We explained that the food we had ordered had never arrived and the waiter did not even apologise he simply removed the items from the bill and we paid. The only star this place gets is for the the interesting (not even that remarkable) interiors, but I would strongly suggest you do not waste your time or money here! A much better experience was had earlier in the day at the nearby, incredibly authentic Bodega Guzman where the Sangria is much better and the staff are...
Read moreI recently had an unpleasant experience at La Chuiquita de Quini. From the moment I stepped in, there were no waiters or staff available to seat me, so I had to choose a table on my own. Shortly after, a mature lady, who appeared to be in her late 60s—possibly the owner—approached me and asked, rather oddly, if I was dining alone. Is it really a crime to dine by oneself?
What followed was even worse. She didn't bother offering me a menu or providing any service. Instead, she began spraying a liquid, presumably a detergent, on the table right in front of me. The spray was so forceful that the mist started drifting towards my face. She did this with what seemed like intentional aggression, spraying harder than necessary.
When I tried to speak to her, she acted as if she didn’t understand and simply walked away to the back of the restaurant. I was close to confronting her about her behavior, but I restrained myself out of respect for her age.
So, if you want to be treated poorly and made to feel unwelcome, especially as an English-speaking customer, this is the...
Read moreBeautiful location and the food was good BUT the service was awful!
I have never experienced something like this. All waiters are running all the time without being efficient, not one smile and not paying attention. We got the wrong tapas, waiters did not know if we had more food coming and already asked for dessert, no one asked if we wanted another drink and it was just a whole chaos.
This made the whole atmosphere very tense and you can tell that there is something going terribly wrong, they seem very stressed and under pressure which definitely seems to come from management because they all have the same behavior. It must be horrible to work there as a waiter.
Take away the headphones and introduce some organization that is working and that has a human touch because it seems that we are actually disturbing.
It is a real pitty since this place has high potential but the service ruins it all!
I hope this comment will serve as a reflection moment to better the situation since the place and...
