One more place in freewheel on google maps with super high ratings for no reason. I had 3 very different flavours, they all tasted very similar and honestly not that good and very industrial/basic. I love ice cream and even though I always try different flavours at every shop I go, I have made vanilla my benchmark flavour for years. If an ice-cream shop is not capable of making a vanilla ice-cream that really tastes like you actually have vanilla (bourbon being perfection) in your mouth, then this shop does not know the definition of flavour. This was the case here, vanilla did not taste either cream neither vanilla, so what do they put into it?? I was really upset that this place had such high ratings. Also what about the princing? 2flavours for 3.5€ (a 5-6cm pot) then the next options is 6.5€ for 3flavours and you get a 12cm pot filled with at least 300-400ml of ice-"cream", who can eat that much and not feel sick? You want flavour and deserved ratings as well as an excellent value for money? Go to "gelataria La Romana" in Valencia and enjoy a...
Read moreI didn't have the greatest experience here and that probably had to do with the scenario. It was the thursday before good friday - Granada was having their Semana Santa processions - this place is right off their processional road. For that reason the line was long and there were throngs of people inside.
We have a language barrier so we had a hard time understanding all the flavors - and their coolers are not see through so you can't even see the flavors. You pay first and then they give you tokens where the scoopers will give you your flavors in accordance to the tokens. Our tokens got swapped so we got incorrect orders and then obviously we couldn't really understand what we were ordering because it was so busy and no one had time to really tell us what the flavors were.
So I am sure this place is good - I mean the flavors we got were really good, but we also go super simple flavors that we knew the Spanish to English translation. Maybe if it was less busy we would have been able to try the more interesting flavors...
Read moreThere was always a long line when we went past so we thought we had to try it as it must be good. We managed to visit during a time with no lines around 7pm on a Monday. I'm not quite sure what the fuss was about as all flavours were quite ordinary and not as good as many other ice cream shops. They are quite limited with how many flavours you can try (technically one per person, the did let us try 3 between 2 people because it was quiet). The pistachio was very mild and underwhelming, the gianduia was better but not as strong in flavour and the turron had an overpowering alcohol flavour.
I personally would be very disappointed if I lined up for this. It is quite cheap though so maybe this is what makes it so enticing at €2 for...
