A Vibrant Cultural Gem on Málaga’s Waterfront

Review: The Centre Pompidou Málaga is an absolute must-see for art lovers visiting the city. Housed in the striking multicoloured glass cube on Muelle Uno, it’s not just an architectural landmark but also a cultural powerhouse bringing world-class modern and contemporary art to the Costa del Sol.

Inside, the space is beautifully laid out, with permanent collections showcasing major works from 20th- and 21st-century masters. I loved the variety—from surrealist paintings to thought-provoking photography and sculpture. Each visit offers something fresh, with temporary exhibitions that are carefully curated and always engaging.

What really stands out is how accessible and welcoming it feels. The museum does a fantastic job of making art approachable to everyone, with excellent signage in multiple languages and plenty of context to help you appreciate the works. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly, happy to answer questions or offer recommendations.

Its location right by the waterfront promenade is perfect, too. You can enjoy the museum and then stroll along the marina or relax in a nearby café with beautiful views of the port and the Alcazaba.

Overall, the Centre Pompidou Málaga brilliantly combines the city’s sunny Mediterranean charm with the sophistication of Parisian art. It’s a place that inspires, surprises, and proves Málaga’s status as a true cultural destination. Highly...

Wanted to leave a review not on the art but on the centre itself from the perspective of a disabled person. In terms of accessibility - it was fantastic. The entrance is easy to find, with level access entry and automatic doors. There is also a large parking with lift access just outside When we went there were no queues at all and staff were brilliant. There is no charge for people with disabilities or children so only my partner had to pay for a ticket. The staff at the entrance were very friendly and attentive and offered me a wheelchair without me even having to ask, and kept my cane/chair in storage for the duration of the visit so I didn't have to carry it with me. They directed us towards the lifts and where to go to reach the start of the main exhibit from there (as it is not exactly the same place you would enter if walking) Guided tours were available, information booklets in multiple languages at the front desk, headsets for audio descriptions also available. The gallery as a whole was spacious and easy to navigate, with no harsh lighting or sounds. There were multiple toilets, each with accessible stalls with all the necessary features and easy to access. The staff on duty throughout the gallery were also very friendly and approachable and available to answer any question

All in all,...

Horrible! Disgusting! Racist! When we first arrived we were greeted by a lovely woman at the front desk and she advised us on which exhibition we wanted to see. I forgot the name of the exhibition but it was by a man named Raul. And when we arrived at the ticket counter, the man at the desk helped us to get student discount which we would not have known about! Everything was going so well until we started to walk into the exhibition space. The security lady left her post to follow us around and that’s when I got really suspicious because we were the only people that were being followed and not to pull THAT card but we were also the only group of black girls. When we walked a bit further into the exhibition a man came out of nowhere and started shouting at us saying that we weren’t allowed to take pictures and we had to be quiet (we were practically whispering to each other). That ruined our mood of the day because it was not a nice experience at all to have been followed as if we were going to steal something. I felt very uncomfortable and not welcomed in the exhibition that I paid money for. The staff were clearly being racist and talking about us in Spanish because they knew were were English and couldn’t understand very well. Save your money and just don’t go. Really wish I could...
