I recently visited La Malagueta Beach, a delightful spot I discovered through a tourist guide from oldtownmalaga.com, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience. This beach, located just a short walk from the city center, is a perfect blend of convenience and beauty, making it an ideal destination for both locals and tourists.
One of the first things that impressed me about La Malagueta was its cleanliness and well-maintained facilities. The golden sand and clear blue waters create a picturesque setting, perfect for a relaxing day by the sea. The beach is also lined with palm trees, providing natural shade and enhancing the tropical atmosphere.
What truly sets La Malagueta apart is its vibrant and lively ambiance. There are numerous beach bars and restaurants, offering a wide variety of delicious local dishes and refreshing drinks. The chiringuitos (beach bars) are perfect for enjoying a traditional espeto de sardinas (grilled sardines) while taking in the stunning views of the Mediterranean.
Additionally, La Malagueta offers a range of activities for all ages. From beach volleyball and paddleboarding to simply lounging under an umbrella, there's something for everyone. The calm waters make it a great spot for swimming, especially for families with children.
The guide from oldtownmalaga.com provided invaluable information, highlighting the best spots on the beach and suggesting nearby attractions to explore. Thanks to their recommendations, I was able to fully enjoy everything La Malagueta has to offer.
In conclusion, La Malagueta Beach is a must-visit destination in Málaga. Its combination of natural beauty, excellent amenities, and lively atmosphere make it an unforgettable spot for a day of sun and fun. I highly recommend using the guide from oldtownmalaga.com to plan your visit and make the most of this wonderful...
Read moreConvenient location, lots of choice for food and drink, not too busy in September, no large groups with speakers and it was generally calm and pleasant. Plenty of sun beds to rent although you need to come early. The water looks clean enough although being near the port it's not the bluest of the blue.
A lot of sellers and most are really nice and don't bother people but every now and then there's someone who yells cerveza in a voice that travels too far and wide ;) We did avail of massages a couple of times and it was amazing value for money. The cocktails the guys are selling look nice but hygiene is a concern as they make them there at the beach and they do not use hand gel or gloves - saw that myself as they had their little station next to us on a few occasions.
The beach does not seem to be cleaned daily and is quite dirty with waste and cigarette butts. You can find a clean spot but it's not great. The bins overflowing. The sand is like clay - it will stain your gear so don't use white beach blanket like we did. Finally - lifeguard was not there on one of the days which felt odd.
Still we enjoyed ourselves for 5 glorious, sunny days...
Read moreI was on crutches due to a sprained ankle, and was hobbling along the beach promenade, looking for the best spot to get out to the sea for a swim, when I discovered the accessible beach facility.
It is fully wheelchair accessible via a ramp from the promenade, and is well appointed during the day over the summer season, with staff, chairs, sun loungers, hoists, special amphibious beach wheelchairs, and an adapted beach shower, to allow wheelchair users to bathe in the sea and shower off afterwards if they wish. Accessible toilet facilities are also close by, on site.
While the specialist equipment is packed away and staff finish at 7pm, the tent structure and boardwalk remain at all times, making the beach more accessible at any time of day. (Though I'm not sure about toilet access out of hours, eg. with a radar key, or Spanish equivalent.)
It really helped me to make the most of my time at the beach, and to swim in the sea as I'd...
