My new local course. Played various courses in the UK, Spain Portugal Turkey and Canada. As far as Costa del Sol courses go, this isn't bad. Reasonably priced and lovely friendly staff. The front 9 is tight and challenging, which is great. It's tough to hold the fairways on some holes and don't go in the rough as it's impossible to find the ball 😂 But a very enjoyable 9 holes that will challenge any golfer. The back 9 is superb. Open, long, and some stunning holes. The par 3 11th is great. The 17th is the signature hole, and the 18th down to the lake is awesome. The negatives. Buggy paths require a lot of attention. The tees need some care, and generally, the front 9 needs to be tidied up. Nothing, some money invested into it wouldn't sort out. Parts of the front 9 need to be cut and edged and have some care given. Green keepers need to spend time and effort on these areas. The back 9 is much better, but again, the boxes need some care given and again some minor and easily achievable overall maintenance to finish it off to give it that professional look and finish that the course deserves. The good points. A long course which I walked. Great holes, challenging. Greens were stunning. Great placed and well sanded bunkers. Stunning views. Really enjoyable course. Great Pro shop. Lovely club house and outside area. Really enjoyable course. Nice practice, Green. Nice but fairly expensive driving range but needs new tees in the mats. It needs some maintenance and money spent on the course condition, which I hope will be done for the summer. Shame the hotel and spa is closed. Inside. The locker rooms and showers are old. The hot rubs and saunas are shut. Toilets, etc, are old. Hopefully, with the new investment on the way this will improve. And it will return to its former glory. Will I play there again. Yes. It's a lovely course. I would have given 5 stars but for the comments above. I recommend you give it a go. Looking forward to playing...
Read moreIf I could give 0 stars, I would. This place is a complete GOAT TRACK. We played this course last year whilst on holiday, and I can 100% say it’s worse, and I thought that was hard. Played today; we pre-booked with the pro shop. so-called rental sets of clubs – if you're going to charge 40 odd euros to rent per set, you'd like to think they would be a full set, not just a few clubs, and then go and try to salvage some clubs out of the lost and found. Gents, given ladies' clubs, some bags had left-handed clubs? And one even had a junior club. Are you for real? Buggies were good, thank the lord (but that’s the only thing). The course was completely terrible; the so-called fairways and greens were terrible. They need to spend a few million just to get it to a poor golf course standard. Wanted to have some food and drink after the golf, as we remember the good food, but there was completely no hospitality from the staff; the ground staff were eating food at the clubhouse tables, and then the only 2 tables free had someone who had written 'reserved' on the smallest piece of paper ever seen. They can throw as much money as they want at this place during the renovation, but it will still be a joke. All the other reviews...
Read moreLa Duquesa has the potential to be a very good golf course. It was probably a great little course 30 years ago. Time has taken it toll and the course is in need of modernisation. Alot of the longer holes are challenging as they are quite narrow and there are some lovely par 3's. You can pay the penalty for being offline as there are some large run offs onto sdjacent fairways. The greens were in excellent condition and well looked after. The Pro Shop was well stocked and the staff very welcoming. The clubhouse bar and restaurant was also very good and the staff excellent. The price for a round and a buggy compared to some other courses was excellent. Overall would I play it again, yes I would but definitely would with some tidying and...
