Star India Restaurant Duquesa — Restaurant in Manilva

What a lovely dinner surprise, sheltering from a storm, we stopped to eat. The welcome was warm and the service good with just the right amount of attentiveness. We both had prawn puri, excellent flavours. I had king prawn pathia, lovely but more sweet and not much sour / heat. Himself had garlic chilli chicken- much more flavour in a delicious dense sauce oozing flavour. The garlic naans were so delicious we had an extra one. The mushroom pilau tasty, but perhaps a little cool in temperature. The dips were disappointing- the mint sauce yellow and too sweet not much mint flavour. The mango was simply pureed mango sauce no flavour not a hint of the expected mango chutney. The chilli sauce was okay, not that hot but l used it to spice up my prawns. We will come back. We ate at the Star last night after a recommendation from my friend, from arriving to leaving we had the best service, the staff are polite and attentive without being overwhelming, I love the fact there are beautiful white tablecloths and spotlessly clean cutlery and glassware and our glasses came from the freezer for our lovely cold beers, the food was served in delightful serving dishes it was piping hot, flavourful and the portions are generous, everything was presented beautifully, the attention to detail was brilliant such as warmed plates and frozen glasses. There is a lovely mural of the Duquesa coastline painted the entire length of the main wall which gives a cheerful feel to this spotlessly clean and well placed restaurant. I really don't want to give a bad review of this place but dined here for the first time tonight (31 December). Booked a table for 7.15pm and didn't get food until 9.15pm..(2 curries and rice). I asked on a couple of occasions how long the food would be and was told a couple of minutes... simply not true... when the food finally arrived it was average at best. The restaurant was very busy and I feel they shouldn't have accepted my booking if they couldn't manage the numbers.
