Casa de los Berenguer — Attraction in Sagunto

Located in an old Gothic palace, this beautiful building, originally belonging to the Berenguer's lineage, is the Visitors Reception Centre and Information Point. A "mikveh” a Jewish ritual bath, and the remains of the Wall of the Temple of Diana are preserved inside. Palacio gótico del s. XVIII, acoje restos de otras construcciones, desde las más antiguas, como el Muro Templo de Diana, que se cree podía pertenecer a una pared de un templo de la mencionada diosa o bien a un resto de muralla ibero-romana del s. II, así como restos de baños judios, pasando por un patio de arcos rebajados de piedra del s. XV.

Consta de 4 plantas: Planta baja: Recibidor 1a Planta: Muro Templo de Diana. Mikvé baño ritual judio. Aseos. Información turística. 2a Planta: Museo de la escena grecolatina. Centro de interpretación de la ciudad. 3a Planta: Mirador.

Bien conservado, aunque sin demasiada coherencia histórica, pues sus salas han sido completadas con cartelería y maniquíes de referencia griega: la batalla de Troya, los poetas griegos Eurípides, Sófocles y Esquilo o los populares héroes mitológicos Ayax o Heracles; cuando se sabe que Sagunto nunca tuvo pasado griego, como ya atestiguó la catedrática de arqueología de la Universitat de València Carmen Aranegui, en su ponencia "El Comerç d'Arse".
