Very large shopping centre on 3 levels. Lots of bars, restaurants and a couple of night clubs many with a gay clientele. Lots of families too, particularly during the day. Great arcades for the kids and a well maintained minigolf.

The food is all generally good and reasonably priced but you will pay slightly more than in the surrounding neighbourhood restaurants.

The quality of the alcohol served varies a lot so be wary of happy hour deals and if possible watch what they put in your glass. Taxis are available and very cheap from the minigolf course 24 hours so DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE (there are often police road blocks to catch DUI.)

Prices of everything in the shops have been greatly marked up so expect to have to haggle for a better deal but you can get 50% off in some cases.

Drag is also a hit here with 3 or 4 different shows. Sparkles is all in English with a very raw, vulgar style. Funny boys is a late night show with a varied cast all in spanish with very pushy bar staff. My favourite is Terry show, a small friendly venue with a very talented cast. The show changes a lot from night to night so stop by a couple of times to see more. There is also a humorous twist to the show so not all the performances...

Nightlife not the same as it was 20 years ago. Local business owners with agendas have spoilt it. The straights are invading now as the bars they used to frequent have closed down. Problem with this place is the majority of the bars are all open to the outside and right next to each other so you can't hear the music in the majority of them as its not loud enough, presumably because of local restrictions on noise pollution. And then you get bars that must be obviously breaking the rules blasting their rubbish music across the square unchallenged by the authorities, drowning out the music in every other bar nearby. And if you want to have a dance, forget it. The only bars that play music loud enough to dance don't get busy til about 3am, and the music is absolutely dreadful - quite obviously aimed at the straight Spanish crowd rather than the tourists who make up the vast majority of the customers. It's such a shame as it used to be an enjoyable place for a night out, but the only reason to go there now is if you want to sit and chat and people watch in the...

Fun Atmosphere, but Beware of Pushy Scam Shops

Yumbo Shopping Center is a fun place with a great atmosphere, offering plenty of nice bars, restaurants, and even a lovely mini golf course. There are also a few reputable shops like Fund Grube that are worth visiting.

However, be extremely cautious of the so-called "souvenir" shops, especially those run by some Indian/Pakistani or Moroccan vendors. These places often sell cheap items at wildly inflated prices—for example, handbags for €180–€200 that you can easily find elsewhere for €60, or shoes priced at €50 that are available in nearby stores for just €18. It’s clear price gouging.

What's worse is their aggressive sales tactics. Many of them are overly persistent and make shopping uncomfortable. I was even followed after firmly saying no to one of the pushier vendors. It felt intimidating and ruined an otherwise enjoyable visit.

Tip: Stick to the bars, restaurants, and official stores, and avoid these scammy,...

If you want an idea of how a 60s multistorey car park could look like if it was the only thing left standing after a nuclear war, then this is the place to come. Great things happen here. There's a variety of good food eateries here, from the Centrum steak place on the middle floor (who do the nicest red lambrusco BTW), and the Chinese buffet place on the ground floor, Restaurant China Town (it's cheap and good, so leave a good tip!). They are friendly and kind. There is a bar there called La Bulle, where the drinks are big, cheap and good. Its a great spot to people watch. As a gay man this is where I'll be holidaying in my twilight years (which should really be from now), it's like the elephants graveyard for gay men. There are showbars with drag queens, and believe it or not they are child friendly, my niece and nephews love it! This is not a chic Westfield Shepherds Bush in the Canaries, its something a lot more mend-and-make-do, and it's fabulous!

Lots of fun places, beautiful people and lots of fun there, lots of cute boys, for those who love them, also lots of cute older people, inside the beautiful families. Enough to see for everyone, women and men, adults and children. If somewhere on the English coast, then it is best to haggle there, but not all shops there work that way, but it is characterized by the fact that if you are told "the price is this, But I can let you have this at this price", but then it is almost certain that you can get the product difference; cheaper than you, it is first offered, even though it has been beaten slope of. Be demanding and try to bid very low, and walk away if you do not get that price, but my experience is that in 50% of cases, they run after you and say, ok. Restaurants there are not the cheapest, and not at all the best.

The Yumbo Centre Gran Canaria. This centre is great for Gay and straight night life. Plenty of friendly bars and restaurants open until very late in the morning. Hours. All types catered for including, many gay bars, night clubs, cruising bars, dance clubs and for those who want to have a drink watching people pass by you can try Peacocks - a very pleasant bar with as many cocktails as you can imagine. Of your hungry I’d head straight for the Chinese buffet. At just £12 for all you can eat it’s a real bargain if you want good food and there is plenty of seafood here too all inc in the price. Daytime shopping is not that good apart from two really good up-market shops having good prices too. Night wise you can spend all week here dancing and cruising in a different bar every night.
