The hike to the top is definitely worthwhile. The little expo (free entrance) on the history of the city was also very informative and enlightening. Last but not least, the view on the bay is just breathtaking.

En el castillo de la Mota que corona el monte Urgull, se encuentra junto al acceso oriental, un campanil construido en la segunda mitad del siglo XIX y conocido popularmente como "la horca" por su forma. En realidad este campanil se erigió para avisar a la población de los bombardeos de los carlistas durante la tercera guerra carlista. Cuando los vigías situados en el castillo de la Mota divisaban el fogonazo en el monte Arratsain, tocaban a rebato, siendo seguidas por las campanas de Santa María y San Vicente. Desde ese momento, los donostiarras tenían 14 segundos para ponerse a salvo antes de que impactasen los obuses.

Fantastic climb and has access through two types of hikes up for the views. One is smooth less stairs and the other is a more sightful climb up stopping in certain areas but with more steps. The views are 100...
