There are a few different routes walking up the mountain. At various points, there are maps with relevant information about the fort. This information is in Spanish, Basque and English. The walk can be a bit steep.
Once on the top, where the main fort is, there a various amounts of canons and a museum (free of charge). The museum has several videos playing, buildings on scale and information panels. All information on these panels are in Spanish/Basque, however there is a very informative booklet in English about the history of the fort and San Sebastián. All is very well looked after and well presented.
To get to the top, there is a limited amount of space. You need to get tickets (free) and you can only spend there 5/10mins. This is more than enough and the views are sweeping.
