The famous Charco Verde is a well-known lagoon due to the striking green colour of its water. This peculiar shade of green is caused by an open sea crater where marine floras have started to grow, giving the water its unique colour.
The specific green colouring is caused by an accumulation of seaweed, known as Ruppia Maritima. The lagoon also goes by the name of Charco de los Clicos, due to local shellfish found here called “clicos”. There is a small trail 10 Minutes to walk to the viewing point (also good for older people: my mother is 70 J. old and not good on feet). There is also a trail below directly next to Altantic Ocean where you can get closer to the Green Lake. Those who want to do hiking also can walk straight to Los Hervideros (about 1.5 h)....

Finding this place is obnoxious on my Google maps, I kept having glitches and bringing me to Green Lake Jr. For parking, just type in Siroco Coffee Shop and go there. They have a large parking lot and it is just a few minutes walk up a pathway to view the green lake. Alternatively, you can just head to El Golfo, find parking anywhere there and walk to the lake...
