Trying to re post as review doesn't appear to show Our first visit. As a lot of the staters were unavailable we opted for the Local cheese and pepper jam. Nice start but wasn't memorable. The fresh bread and red and green mojo sauce were very good. The Grilled fish platter was excellent. 4 fish with new pots and fresh coleslaw salad. Fish cooked perfectly a few fiddlly bones but then they do come whole and not filleted so to be expected. Tasty and great value. Loved it. For dessert we tried the local speciality which was honey almonds, egg yolk, ice cream to share. Its very sweet and 1 between 2 is enough. Again Nice. To finish we were kindly offered a drink on the house and had Ron miel with a little lime to finish. Very nice. Lovely sun set view, very good service. Shared starter, dessert and fish for 2, 4 beers EUR67 not including tip. First visit 4 out of 5..
We went again.. so disappointed.. not many starters available again..tried to order baby squid but none.. advised to go for fried squid instead didn't realise it was over EUR17 a portion which as a starter is quite a lot.. plus it was simply fried squid, some bits tender and other bits chewy...price, quality and quantity it was really disappointing... we then tried to order the veal as it's not common on British menus but it wasn't available.. so went for the rib eye steak which also wasn't available.. to then order sirloin with pepper sauce... over EUR20 per plate, whilst cooked medium rare it was full of sinue and chewy. When plates were collected there was no 'how was it' as by what was left on the plate it was obvious it wasn't very good. Being the last in the restaurant our bill was brought over with a complimentary baileys type drink... nice till I felt a tickle on my lip... to find a massive red ant floating in the drink... EUR78 for a shared starter, 2 mains, 2 beers and 1 wine.. had it been our first visit we would have avoided coming back.. A complete book of two tales.. First visit very good, I get it.as i said to the waiter on leaving ... it's a fish restaurant and that's their specialalty and yes it was.. but bugs in drinks..complimentary or not...totally...
Read moreWe visited this restaurant with good reviews to try some specialties. We drove around the island and visited several restaurants, interesting, beautiful places. When we asked for the menu, we were informed that we could download it via a QR code from their website. There we found only a few dishes, without pictures of the dishes and written in very small letters. Later we noticed that they also brought a classic, paper menu with an offer to the guests nearby. We ordered drinks at the Casa Torano restaurant and stayed despite being warned by the staff that we would be waiting about an hour for our food. One dish was fried calamari (ordered one portion), the other paella with seafood (also ordered one portion). The first ones brought calamari, after about 15 minutes also the paella, which was partly burnt from the bottom, almost black. When paying, we were surprised by the fact that they charged us for two portions of paella. The serving waiter told us that the paella is only made for a couple... I complained, why is it charged twice. He insisted that this was the right way to do it. I didn't want to spoil the atmosphere of the day by arguing with said waiter, so we paid for this overpriced meal and left. I contacted the management of the company 2 times (by message on their FB page, later, when there was no answer, also on their e-mail address), but there was no response from their side. While at first I thought that the whole thing was an unfair action by the staff, now I have the feeling that it is with the approval of the company's management, which I do not understand, because they apparently have sufficient sales, as even at the time of our visit the restaurant was mostly full. After a personal bad experience, I recommend visitors to Casa Torano to either look for the services of another restaurant, or prepare for the fact that they too may be unpleasantly surprised...
Read moreI couldn't have had a worse experience. It was raining, we had no appetite for food and so we thought we would sit on sangria... it was the worst choice. We walked in, sat down, the server asked us what we wanted - we said sangria. No one asked if we were just going to drink or eat. Then they brought us sangria and bread and two sauces. So we figured we'd go for it. After we drank the sangria and ate the bread, a completely rude waiter ran up and yelled at us for eating the bread. They said that wasn't for that, they only give that with food. We were shocked and didn't even have time to answer anything. Then we said we wanted to pay and no one brought us the bill for a long time and when they did it cost us more than 5 euros for the two pieces of bread and two sauces. For 2 glasses of sangria, bread and two sauces + service charge we paid 15,60 euros.. mockery. What's that? I'm speechless. But I don't mind paying if they were polite but they acted so disgustingly that really because of this experience I have experienced the whole perception of Lanzarote. Disgusting. And when we left the waiter asked us if we were from Poland, I take that as an insult to all Poles. Never again... disgusting. Lesson for waiters - you waiters can totally ruin your day with your rudeness. For next time, just ask - hello, what can I get you? Will you be ordering food? And then bring what the person orders... not bring something you shouldn't... and then be nasty to the customers as if it's our fault. I absolutely didn't mind paying for it, God, just say - sorry - bread and sauces only go to customers who order food, you'll have to pay for it. To that I'd say, okay, I don't mind, we'll pay. But the waiter's look at us with completely terrified eyes and the comment - HAVE YOU EATED THE BREAD?!!! thanks - unpleasant,...
