Definitely a place to spend time in Ostersund if you are in the area. the best time to go is definitely between 22 Jun and 18 august (2019 dates). Why? Because there are paid actors innthe open air museum that will interact with you significantly and make the experience all the better! Yes its a bit more expensive at 290sek vs 100 sek, but kids are free, and the actors really make it. The only thing is that although english is spoken, not all the actors necessarily can express themselves as fliently and as cofidently as in Swedish, so im sure the Swedes get a lot more out of it. The other indoor exhibits are your regular museum type, with little English. English Audio guides at the time of entry for us were not working. English guided tour is at 2pm. There are lot of interactive pieces in the house holds - you can try clothes on, listen to old vinyls etc. Theres even a bus from 1925 for you to catch! Extremely high level open air museum. Definitely recommended, and if you speak English, you just have to ask if they...

History land & history museum of rang. Here you can literally walk through the ages, visit houses from each era complete with actors dressed in traditional clothing doing chores and 'living' in the houses. Your kids can timetravel and be placed in one of the hoses for a few hours or half a day and experience being a child growing up ex on a farm in the 1800's or a guest house in the 1600's. There is a kids waterlogging park where they can log timber, an old school steam train, animals and the list goes on. Definitely one of the best places to visit regardless of you have children or not. The museum is indoors to and has exhibitions of Vikings,...

Well ...I have to say, this is a beautiful museum! I surely enjoyed my visit! For youngsters and adults, the museum will be interesting to discover and experience! BUT I take 2 stars off though, because basically EVERYthing is in Swedish only! No english signs with explanations or translations next to what is being exhibited whatsoever. Now, I speak English pretty fluently. I saw another german family with children and younger adults there too. I assume, to plenty foreigners the Jamtli experience will be quite frustrating! I highly recommend adding english signs next to the exposéés as well! Cheers...

This place is huge. Be prepared to walk. Thought we'd spend 2 hours instead we left after over 4 hours. The outdoor historical settlements were interesting but were unmanned and some locations were closed on the day we visited. We found the indoor exhibits more immersive especially the dioramas on hunting, the sami lifestyle and wildlife were very life-like. There is a restaurant with sweet smelling waffles though we didn't eat there. Good and free locker facilities.

We really liked this museum, its a lot of fun, for sure with kids. We really liked the outside area and all the People are Dressed in old clothes and stay in character all the time. Its a nice way to learn more about the history of sweden and to see how they used to live. Also the inside area was very nice decorated. The one thing they could do better is make the signs also in english, most of them where only in swedisch.
