So…the bottomline of all tourist site is well prepared safety equipments. The train is delayed due to technical reasons, which is understandable. Every machine can go wrong, but what makes it unacceptable is the lack of ability of the staff preparing for these unexpected events. Given the fact that the site is:
If I had died and gone to heaven, I would think heaven looks something like Jungfrau!
During my Europe trip back in October, Jungfraujoch was definitely one of my favorite spots! It was the most majestic and gorgeous place we stopped at, and I would highly recommend paying a visit. The ticket price for the train ride up the mountain isn't cheap but very well worth every penny. It cost around $160US for the two hour roundtrip train ride, and it ascends at a slow pace up the mountain with several stops along the way. Get your cameras ready because you will get a nice glimpse of the scenic valley and landscape during the ride.
Once you get to the top of Europe, there's historical exhibits about Jungfrau, ice sculptures, and various observation towers for you to enjoy the scenic snow covered landscape above the clouds. There's even a Lindt chocolate shop which I highly recommend to stop at and stock up on goodies, since their prices there are much cheaper than the surrounding stores in town.
Tips* -Bring jackets, gloves, hats, scarves! Its absolutely freezing once you get to the top! -Bring sunglasses! The sun reflects off the snow covered mountains and makes it really difficult to see. -Bring food and water. They charge $8 for instant noodles which is a complete rip off! -Selfie sticks will definitely help you save time from asking random strangers to help take your picture. Trust me you will want to take MANY pictures here! The...
Read morePros and Cons: Pros - The cable car ride offered a beautiful view! It was well-run and clean. The Ice Palace was cool (no pun intended). You wander through a few tunnels of ice to see several fabulous ice sculptures. Cons - The cost was way too high! The train from Eiger Station to the top might be interesting to a subway engineer but not to us. It is a train going through a tunnel of rock as it moves through the mountain. At the top, you are greeted by a hoard of people. We could barely move through the crowd. The smell was terrible and people were sitting all along the walls and stairs, giving the appearance of a homeless convention. At that point, we were all ready to just turn around a get back on the train, but we suffered through and found a place to have lunch. After lunch, we went through the museum. The museum wonders through a series of rooms (boring), and it ends at the Ice Palace. It was snowing so we couldn't see anything out the windows (bad timing for us). It certainly would have been better if we could see the view. Be very aware that the altitude may cause issues. Most of the people in our party of 7 felt the ill effects of altitude including shortness of breath...
