Let's talk about The Rhine Falls. Singular noun. Plural impact. The most powerful waterfall in Europe. Not the tallest. Not the widest. But the most powerful. And isn’t that something?
Situated on the High Rhine, straddling the cantons of Schaffhausen and Zürich, this beast of a waterfall is less a gentle cascade and more a full-throttle, roaring display of nature flexing its muscles. The sound? A deep, rolling thunder that makes you wonder if Poseidon himself is lurking just below the surface, a little irritable, maybe checking his watch. If he has a watch. Which, given our brief stop at the Swiss watch shop, I sincerely hope he doesn’t. But I’ll get to that.
First, the boat ride. You want to feel the falls? Get in the boat. There’s a reason we enjoyed this the most. It’s one thing to admire from the sidelines, nodding appreciatively like you’re in an art gallery, but it’s another to get up close. The mist slaps you in the face. The roar gets louder. And for a few glorious moments, you understand what it is to be insignificant against the raw power of nature. Existential. Thrilling. Gets the blood pumping.
Then, the gelato. Unexpectedly excellent. Like, you’d think Switzerland would be all about the chocolate (and don’t get me wrong, they are), but this? This was creamy, rich, and exactly what you need after getting lightly misted by the falls. A moment of serenity. An antidote to all that power. Plus, you eat it while staring at a natural wonder, which is peak vacation mode.
Now, the watch shop. A tragedy. A display case full of tiny, overpriced reminders that time is slipping away and that some people have entirely too much disposable income. Nothing worthy of a second glance, let alone a purchase. You’d expect something remarkable, given the country’s reputation. Instead? A collection of uninspired, aggressively priced wrist-tethers to responsibility. If you’re looking to be underwhelmed, highly recommend.
Final verdict? The Rhine Falls delivers. If you go, get on the boat. Get the gelato. Skip the watches. Time is better spent feeling the spray of a 15,000-year-old force of nature than staring at a sad collection of overhyped accessories.

Read moreMesmerized. Have you experienced the feeling of too many happiness inside you that you just can't help yourself but smile nonstop? That's how I felt when I came here. The Rhein Wasserfall truly stole my heart from the very first sight. This is the biggest waterfall in Europe, who know this place sabotaged the biggest part in my happy memory too? 🥰 Anyway, do you plan to go here with public transportation? Here's what you need to know! You can go here with the BW Jugendticket or 49€ Deutschland Ticket! Go to the direction Schaffhausen (it took aprox. 4 hours from Offenburg by train). From Schaffhausen, you need to buy a ticket to Neuhausen Rheinfall, and it only cost 3.20CHF one way. You can buy the ticket direct on the machine at Schaffhausen, and you can pay it with card. You can already hear the sound of the waterfall when you get off at Neuhausen Rheinfall station. Just follow the street and you'll see a transparant lift with the waterfall as the view. Undeniably pretty. I went here on Autumn season. The leaves are becoming brown, and it gives a lil bit vibes of misty yet calming. Since it's the b i g g e s t waterfall, it's not enough to explore it only in one day. I explored only one side of the waterfall and I will definitely explore the other side, asap (hopefully). There are restaurants if you're hungry or you could also just bring your own food and do a picnic. It's recommended as well. I did that. There are also souvenir shops, trip with boats where you can even go to the rock in the middle of the waterfall. As much as I know, it cost 20CHF-ish. There is also other boat trip that cost only 8CHF. I didn't take any of that because I was so stunned I couldn't help myself but keep walking and keep picturing what I saw. I hope we as human be more wiser to keep the nature and love the nature the way it wants to...
