Vevey History Museum — Attraction in Vevey

The historical museum of Vevey is a museum with multiple curiosities located in a 16th-century mansion that once belonged to Bernese bailiffs. It tells the history of the city of Vevey and its surroundings, as well as that of the Fête des Vignerons, organized in Vevey every 20 years since 1797. The museum may seem small but can easily take over an hour to visit. It is interesting and welcoming, but apparently has a small downside for non-French speakers: it seems that there are no translations of the captions into English or other languages. There are actually 2 museums here: that of the fete des vignerons and then the historical museum. At the Museum of the fete des vignerons you are taken back to the previous editions of the events through seeing the old costumes, models of the stadia and seeing videos of the performances. The historical museum takes you back through the history of Vevey, and its evolution over the ages- really interesting to see, especially if you are a local and wonder what live was like...
