I’m lucky enough to live in Chiang Mai City where there are tons of museums, aquariums and historical places like Buddhist temples, gates to explore and new exhibits to see. Still, one of my favorite things to do whenever I visit a new city is to get lost in a great museum. So, I went the Chiang Mai National Museum.🥳 Yay!!!

There are so many of Buddha image of Lanna and 2 floors with 16 display rooms. They told me that Museum is a new permanent exhibition. There are 8 display rooms on the upper floor and the further 8 display rooms on the ground floor.

8 The topic of ground floor display rooms: Topic 1: Development of Buddha image of Lanna Topic 2: Phra Saenswae Topic 3: Lanna votive tablets Topic 4: Buddhism ceremonies utensils in Lanna Topic 5: Archaeological objects found in Hod District, Chiang Mai Topic 6: Lanna ceramics Topic 7: Lanna paintings Topic 8: Art in Thailand

8 The topic of ground floor display rooms: Topic 9: Buddhism Belief Topic 10: Buddhism in Lanna Kingdom Topic 11: The Relationship between Chiang Mai and the Court of Siam Topic 12: Lanna during the Rattanakosin Period Topic 13: Lanna under Burmese rule Topic 14: Lanna Kingdom Topic 15: History in Northern Thailand : Proto - History in Northern Thailand Topic 16: Prehistory in Northern Thailand

All the above facts that I mentioned are imagined in the journal which will give to you when you enter the Museum.

Entrance fees: 100 baht per one adult ppl

In conclusion, I just wanna highly recommend to go there when you have arrived to Chiang Mai,...

Hello, sorry to say I had a club sandwich here and it really was not so good. The place seems nice and clean and the staff were pretty friendly and took care fairly well. But the club sandwich was just not good. It had 3 thick sliced toasted white bread. So far so good. But on the first layer of club sandwich it had a cold and what appeared to be previously cooked egg. And on the second layer of sandwich was one maybe 2 very thin sliced pieces of ham. There were 2 pieces of lettuce and 1 slice of tomato on the side more as a garnish than part of the actual sandwich and that was there club sandwich for I think i paid 125 Baht. So basically you gave me an old cold fried egg and ham sandwich with an extra piece of bread and called it a club sandwich. I think it will take a long time for me to forget this sandwich and return here. I have eaten here in the past a couple of times and the food was ok not great but certainly not bad, Today was certainly not good. Sorry for the bad review and I do hope that this will give you a chance to review the way you make your so called club sandwich and improve...

Visiting this museum was a good choice as it added context to many of the sites you see in Chiang Mai. It gives a chronological tour of history with exhibits - some are multimedia sound and visuals - from early stone tool humans in the area to present day. I was surprised to learn how long humans have been in this area and the two archaeology dig pits in the exhibition give a sense of what they have found from around the same time period as the Java man found in Indonesia. Interesting was a gallery highlighting changes through time of shapes and styles of Buddhist sculptures. The shape of the face, body, and head changed with different eras and dominant kingdoms at the time in what is now Thailand. A very good walk through of the production methods used hundreds of years ago for a massive bronze Buddha head used baked clay made of hay, dung, earth, and wax to create the mold, and when the hot bronze was poured into the cast, the wax melted away, creating a gap to remove the clay and be left with the bronze sculpture. Not crowded, it was a good stop to better understand the history of...

Pleasantly surprised! Spacious, well arranged, ventilated, well lit, great exhibits providing information in Thai and (decent) English regarding the history of the Northern (Lanna) Region, the arrival and spread of Buddhism into the different parts of Thailand, and more. Personally, as it was my first visit, I was very impressed by some of the displays, and the English translations - while containing some errors, was reasonably well done. Thoroughly enjoyed my time there, depending on how you enjoy your museum visits, this one could range any where between 1-3 or even 4 hours. As I was visiting with elders, I was also very impressed at the availability of an elevator (there are 2 levels), and I noticed ramps with handrails connecting some of the display areas that were set apart from the main areas. Highly recommended for people who are interested on learning about the North. 😊👍

The Chiang Mai National Museum takes two to three hours to make it through the exhibits. It takes a more narrow approach in covering Northern Thai art and the influences of Buddhism over the last 700 hundred years. Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai have a unique history apart from the rest of Thailand and was once controlled by Burma. the English translations provide adequate context and the Museum has a logical flow from the front to the back and from floor 1 to floor two. Thai citizens pay $20 baht and foreigners pay $100. Bags are not allowed but they provide free lockers to protect your belongings. It is also air conditioned. There are plenty of places to stop and sit down along the way and bathrooms are located beneath the stairway.
