It's good to barter & they do accept you doing this, my advice would be start off low & gradually increase it but have a figure in your head and don't go above that! Also walk away & they'll negotiate with you again. We bought a painted coconut shell that started off at a ridiculous 850 bhat but we kept on laughing saying its cheaper on a local stall998 outside our hotel (which it was 100 bhat) -- the shop owner the practically threw the coconut shell at mo & took the money😀 The bazar is a good place to visit & see what they have to sell, I bought a shawl /wrap from a beach seller but you can get them in the bazar - the wraps /shawls are beautiful, the colours...
Read moreAbsolutely heartbreaking. I visited this market today, july 2025 and was shocked to see a literal baby shark cut in half and other marine life displayed like trophies. This isn't just disturbing, it's a reminder of how little respect some places still show toward ocean creatures.
This NEEDS to be illegal. Sharks are already disappearing from our oceans due to overfishing and cruelty like this. There is no justification for allowing this kind of display in a country that claims to care about wildlife and sustainability.
