Read moreSad to see the decline of this once beautiful village and beach post Covid. The police turn a blind eye to the drug dealer running his beach cafe and sun lounger rental in the trees on the Beach 50m south of the beach massage spa. He has (in total violation of Thai law) made a permanent structure on the beach using surf boards and drift wood - I think he lives there, and blasts his awful and very loud music to all the beach. Clearly the police are ignoring this violation. The once idyllic village is now a Russian enclave. Rammed with them and their noisy, arrogant and unruly children and it seems that they all have children. The change in the demeanour of the local shop keepers is sad. They now view all foreigners as thieves until they recognise that you are from Europe, then their smiles return. The area is under massive building projects and as overwhelmed as the village, restaurants and shops are now it will soon be a thousand times worse once the thousands of condos are completed that are currently under construction. Prices are already far in excess of where they used to be - even a Thai...

Some days, there are more deposits onto the beach, like coral fragments, and the sand is coarser. Other days, it is soft fine sand with less detritus. Add the unstable weather conditions during the rainy season, things at Nai Yang Beach may vary wildly.
It has a lot of sun beds and restaurants lining the beach. Jack’s, the first restaurant at the northern end of the restaurant row, does happy hour earlier than the rest. It’s a great vantage point to watch the waves and planes taking off and landing to the north. There are also convenience stores, massage parlours, a pharmacy and market close by, making it a great place to spend an entire day...
