Wong Duean Beach, located on the idyllic Koh Samet, is a haven where historical richness and natural beauty converge. Celebrated in the renowned Thai poem “Phra Aphai Mani”, the beach is a tapestry of cultural legacy and picturesque scenery. This beach offers a serene escape with its pristine, soft sand and crystal-clear waters.
The highlight of my visit was the exceptional seafood. Fresh blood clams, mussels, and shrimps, each dish was a delight, showcasing the local culinary excellence. The local chicken grill and papaya salad shop was such a delight with affordable price and rich taste. I recommend you guys to try that. It opens around 10AM, located on the shore of the beach. The beach’s expansive stretch is well-maintained, and the sunsets here are breathtaking, perfect for an evening meal by the sea.
You can go to Koh Samet by taking a direct bus from Ekkamai Bus Terminal to Ban Phe, Rayong. From Ban Phe, it takes around 30-40 minutes to get to Koh Samet, Na Dan Pier. Getting to Wong Duean Beach is convenient, whether by a direct speedboat or a ferry to the Na Dan Pier followed by a short taxi or motorbike ride. You have to pay 200 THB for entrance fees of Koh Samet. The ferry costs 160 THB for round trip and for the direct speedboat to Wong Duean Beach, around 400-600 THB, which is quite expensive.
In the evenings, the beach has a tranquil ambiance, enhanced by soft jazz music. Dining here, especially enjoying mookahta (Thai BBQ), is a relaxing experience. Wong Duean Beach is an enchanting spot that beautifully combines scenic views, rich history, and delectable food. It’s ideal for anyone seeking a peaceful beach experience...
Read moreThis is a nice quiet bay named after one of the Thai words for the moon. Water is clean, there are plenty of seafood restaurants and a handful of resorts. All have toilets, and the water and sand are generally clean too. As for nature, we saw needle fish in the water and some bats towards dusk. The Thai food is generally good quality, but items from any minimart are double the mainland. Back on the main road you can rent motorcycles for 400 a day. Only do so if you have a licence like me (or you'll invalidate your health insurance). Overall, this is a nice quiet bay to chill out in and not really a party location - which is...
Read moreAmazing Beach. It is the longest beach in the Koh Samet. You can swim in the clean water. there are plenty of Bars and restaurants around. After 10 pm, the beach is totally lonely, where you won't find any human. We have done make-out at the beach. Even you can try in the open air and sitting on the beach, No one will bothered if anybody watches! The last and the ultimate is the beach...
