DISADVANTAGES:||- Hotel Entrance and Sign small and hard to find. The Taxi Driver that brought me from the airport had a hard time finding it.||- Air-conditioning in the Lobby is only available in the evenings, and no air-conditioning in the Common Areas. ||- No Elevator, although the Hotel only does go up a couple of floors. And the stairs have a landing where you can rest every half way thru.||- There are only two Electrical Outlets available per room, and if you use one for the Refrigerator then you end up with only one. So you either bring one or buy a Multiple Outlet. ||- Wifi is free, although you can only use one device at any given time. It is also slow most of the time. I coped by subscribing to a 4G internet service for my Smartphone. ||- No nearby Money Changer. The nearest one I can find is at the Phra Ram 9 MRT Station, which is at least a ten-minute walk away, so you will need to plan your finances accordingly.||- Bed creaked a bit, although not enough to keep me from sleeping. Reported this to the Hotel Staff, but they didn’t get around to fixing it. They probably will try to fix it after I left. ||- Sound proofing not that good, sometimes I can hear people coughing or furniture moving around the next rooms. Not enough to keep me from sleeping soundly, though.||- No Parking Space available, and Public Transportation will have to stop right in the road.||||ADVANTAGES:||- Price very competitive at only ThB 1k (USD 28) per day as of March 2016.||- Room and Toilet is large.||- Free two 500 ml Water Bottles per day.||- Free Fruit Basket upon arrival.||- Free Cable TV.||- Complimentary Coffee, Milk, Hot Water and Biscuits at the Lobby. ||- A 7-11 is very near, almost in front of the lobby. ||- The Tesco-Lotus Grocery and the Fortune Building IT Mall is nearby, around a five-minute walk only.||- The Phra Ram 9 Metropolitan Rapid Transit (MRT) Subway System Station is also nearby, only around a ten-minute walk.||- The area is secure, Hallways and Stairs are very well lighted and lots of Close-Circuit Television Cameras (CCTV) around. ||- The road as you step out of the lobby is busy, even at night. For me more foot-traffic is a positive since it will likely be more secure. ||||OVERALL||Despite some issues, I enjoyed my stay at the Blissotel Ratchada. The lack of Elevator didn’t bother me as it is only a couple of floors with midway stops in the stairs. The hotel was secure with a comfortable room, and the nearby 7-11 allowed me to buy whatever I needed quickly and easily. A Mall with Groceries and an MRT Station within walking distance made the place very convenient. ||||It is a good, no-frills Budget Hotel, if you are travelling alone or with companion/s who wouldn’t mind staying in such a place then this is a great way to stretch your budget. Recommended, the next time I stay in Bangkok and need a budget place to stay, I will definitely consider going...
Read moreWat Rakhang Khositaram Woramahawiharn, is a royal temple of the second grade of Woramahawiharn, which was built during the Ayutthaya Period. Its original name was Wat Bangwa Yai. In 1769 (B.E. 2312) the temple was raised to be a royal temple by King Taksin the Great. He then graciously ordered the transfer of Phra Tripitaka (Buddhist scriptures) from Nakhon Si Thammarat province to be revised. In the reign of King Rama I, an ancient bell was found at the temple and the King had the bell moved to the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew) and built five new bells to donate to the temple. Thence it was called Wat Rakhang (which means Bell Temple). A major restoration was carried out by Somdet Krom Phraya Thepsudawadi, the eldest sister of King Rama I. The temple was used as a residence by Somdet Phra Sangkharat Si, the first Supreme Patriarch of the Rattanakosin Period and by Somdet Phra Buddha Chan (Toh Phrom Rangsi). There is an old Tripitaka Hall situated in the temple area. It was the original residence of King Rama I when he was still Phra Ratchawarintra and Thonburi was still the capital.
It is a temple and tourist attraction that has a waterfront, and can feed...
Read moreThe location is on a smaller Soi, but very populated and safe. Tons of food stalls on the street, and even a western type bar. Just 8 minutes walk from either phra ram 9 metro (one stop from airport link) or Thailand cultural center metro stations. Super close to the train night market behind esplanade mall. ||The room is small, though I expected that. Mostly clean (sheet had some insignificant stains and the sink looked stained too), with free water and coffee. In my room #504, the tv was awkwardly placed on the wall beside the bed, not in front of it. Not a problem for me, since I don't watch tv, but if that matters to you, check the room first. ||2 outlets, one chair and a small table, plus a large wardrobe. The price was under 20$ a night, so no fridge either. The bed is quite springy, but air con is perfect and pillows fluffy! No elevator. ||Overall, friendly staff and nice building in...
