Read moreI found out about this from a story in the Bangkok Post. Unfortunately they were light on details about how to get there. parking is even more mysterious as you have to hope that you can find a spot on the street and hope that you're not going to get the boot on the car when you return. there are no signs yet, I hope they will be in the future, to tell you what stairway to go up. I tried two different ones each one putting me on the outside edge unable to access. Then I realized I had to go into a small part and then go up the stairs there. I will say it was worth the walking and I thoroughly enjoyed the musical performance on the inauguration day by the Bangkok woodwind quintet which were from Mahidol University. It was wonderful to listen to the beautiful music as a sunset over Wat Arun. Looking in the other direction you could clearly see the modern Bangkok skyline including the mahanakorn building. The only thing that did distract from it was the constant grown-up traffic on either side of the area. There was a good turnout of locals and I would say if you like a good walk it's a great...
Read moreThe old electric train track beautifully and tastefully landscaped and transformed into a garden sky walk across Chaopraya river! Once there, you can enjoy the magnificent views of the river on both sides, in addition to a nice stroll back and forth from both ends of the bridge. Most plants along the walkways are marked with plant names. There are also long concrete seats on either side of it for you to sit and enjoy the sights of what's going on both on the streets and the river below. Though it may not be designed as a work-out place, but it's highly recommended as a place to chill out, especially in the morning or evening (a Thai band also plays on a mini stage up there, probably on weekend evenings, but check it out again). The downside is the bathrooms are not there. There are not-very-well maintained ones at the foot of the bridge. The parking can be done along the kerbs nearby, or in the car park of a few temples in its...
