Hi everyone! I'd like to share my experience of Zafran eatery.
Walking in, I loved the atmosphere. The restaurant is next to a waterway in Little India with an authentic Indian vibe. The weather was great, the table was well-lit, and there were lots of people walking around so my family and I (4 people total) decided to sit outside.
The owner of the place (Joy) came out to greet us and recommended a few dishes. The Malai Chicken (milky chicken) was creamy, flavorful, and delicious! Definitely try that out.
We also had the Butter Chicken, Palak Paneer (Spinach Cottage Cheese), and Biriyani. Butter Chicken I would say is average and not a stand-out. However the Palak Paneer was one of the most dense and flavorful I've ever had. We all were surprised that coming from an Indian household and eating Indian food for most of our life, we hadn't had Palak Paneer this good before.
The Biriyani was another favorite of ours. It comes in a clay pot and the aroma fills your table. Once we tried it, we were trying to guess which ingredient makes it stand out so much. The owner (Joy) then comes to us with the special ingredient, saffron from Spain. We then found out the name of the restaurant, Zafran is a translation of the word saffron.
Overall the food was delicious. Flavorful with high quality ingredients and not overly oily or spicy. The owner provides great recommendations and also customized a few other dishes to our needs.
The service could be better, but the food and atmosphere more than make up for it. I'll definitely go again and would...
Read moreI found Zafran by chance. I was in the area of "Little India" and did a map search for restaurants near me. I then filtered for all rated 4.5 or higher. Zafran showed up with a 4.9 with 504 reviews. Rather impressive. I have to apologize that my review has no photos since I was with a 2 year old that was watching Peppa the pig on my phone. We were welcomed in by a polite and service friendly young man. The ambience is colorful with original art. The restaurant is exceptionally clean, well lit, and orderly. The staff are accommodating to all including young children. I think we ordered chicken masala, butter nan, fish curry, chicken tikka, and palak paneer. I am not an expert on Indian cuisine although I have been to India a number of times for business. I do appreciate the complex flavors of well cooked Indian food. The food here was clean with delicious flavors that were perfectly balanced. The portions are good sized and we left feeling satisfied yet not uncomfortably stuffed. I will take photos on my next trip as the food was worth a return. Thanks to the staff of Zafran for the friendly and helpful service. Highly...

We tried their Veg Thali, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The restaurant was kind enough to customize the spice levels to suit our preferences, making it kid-friendly while still keeping the flavors intact. Every item on the Thali was flavorful and perfectly balanced, and the butter naan they served was one of the best I've ever had!
What makes this place truly special is the hospitality—despite arriving late for lunch (around 2:30 PM), they welcomed us warmly and made us feel at home. The service was attentive, accommodating, and heartfelt—something you don’t often experience.
This place is truly a hidden gem! Don’t be misled by its simple exterior—we were a bit skeptical at first, but walking in turned out to be the best decision of the day.
