Plenty of options in terms of types of boats and rides to travel along the river, ranging from large dinner cruises to smaller locally operated boat tours. Just be careful to do your research on what the typical rates are so that you can bargain your way down to something reasonable. After all, this is the livelihood for some locals.

Perks of the smaller boat tours is that you get to visit the smaller rivers/canals stemming from the main river and, catch a glimpse of local life along the river and smaller local temples. You may also be able to negotiate a drop off point ideally where you’d like to visit next, for example Wat Arun.

Sunset views are brilliant as well; you can try to time your boat tour/cruise at the correct hour or find one the bridges throughout the river to await the impending golden sky, altogether while waving at people aboard cruises as they sail slowly below you.
